Shaun von Berg - Saffie leg spinner

Anyone seen this guy play in Saffie domestic cricket ?
Heard chairman of selectors Andrew Hudson talking him up and his stats look decent enough.

When was that? Haven't seem him bowl but he was favoured over Imran Tahir last season for the Titans but that was for non-cricketing reasons.

Some good stats there. Especially since he plays on SA tracks. Looks as he can do more than hold a bat too. Does he turn it? or just another toppie type leggie

Interesting. Is SA enforcing a lardo quota too now? Looks like he doesn't eat salad too often:

just looked at his stats and they not bad at all. But then again it could be that he is helped by the 3day comp that is also first class.

Not bad that we actually have a legspinner with an average < 30 - at least Tahir has some competition coming up.

Gah, I was hoping there wasn't a stat like that and that his averages were consistent throughout the different levels of pro cricket :(

Sill, his last two matches included a fifer and a 3fer, so maybe he's clicking...

got a fifer in his last match. And he was batting at 7. Lets hope he will improve, but with the lateral movement in Rsa, i doubt he will get much bowling time.

I've seen a bit of Von Berg...he can turn it a bit. Also very decent with the bat. Did go on the emerging tour.

A young chinaman bowler by the name of Thomas Kaber was making huge strides as a 16-17 year old where he got into SA schools and SA u19 team at 16. But he had a family tragedy and fell away. But I see he is back playing club cricket for Pretoria High School Old Boys again and doing well. He (while at school) along with Von Berg went to train with the Delhi Daredevils a few years ago. I remember watching him in a feature match on tv and it was tough to read him with his quick arm action.

Also watch out for Lionel Vaaltyn as a leggie and should be getting his Warriors debut in the next year or two.

I'll be keeping an eye out for Vaaltyn :) We'll have to turn Buffalo Park into a dustbowl, what with Botha and now this Vaaltyn chap!

If the warriors could find one or two high-quality batsmen, we would be awesome! Bowling line up already has Parnell, Tsotsobe, Theron, Birch, Botha etc - difficult to find a way into that as a youngster!

Eddie leie from the lions looks good. I heard about him 5 years ago and then heard nothin after. But i think he is back now. Shamsi from the Dolphins also looked good last time i saw him.

We need to revert back to the old provincial format imo - not enough quality players get game time.
