When he walked up to Prior he said 'I don't know if I've hit it' the What ever Prior said he replies 'you reckon', obviously once we saw Snicko , he just nicked it, but from the disturbance on the snicko, it was the slightest of feathers.
pfttt. Load of bull****. He thought he'd have a gamble with the technology and it paid off. What a joke

I see why snicko was used - I see absolutely no reason why there was no sound on the replays though. It's not like there's a technological issue as there is with snicko, after all, remember the hubbub about the "sound not being turned up" in Eng/SA?
Agreed.

If the technology is there for the sound etc then use it. Blame cricket Australia or ICC or C9 i guess. The 3rd umpire gave a correct decision on the technology he was given. Can't be blamed for that but the moneymen can if they have a system in which is flawed.

Wow, some classy stuff in here yet again. Dear oh dear.

Cook was wonderful, I thought. Proper test batsman, shame he'll never make any decent coin as he's hardly an IPL drawcard.

So, what's the fuss over Ian Bell. Anyone with a YouToob link?

Hey, I'm just saying what my girlfriend just lip read off him, she works at a school for deaf. It's not that hard to see what he says.

Stood his ground despite obviously being out. Technology lated over-turned the umpire's decision despite certain evidence that wasn't used would've upheld the umpire's decision.

Been some fair rubbish in here, eh?

Cook'll do nicely regardless, ECB has a decent central contracts system running now IIRC

On the Bell thing, it's worth noting the 3rd umpire didn't actually overrule Dar. Apparently he inidicated that he couldn't find conclusive evidence either way and then Dar overturned his own decision, on his own initiative. That was strange too.

I actually thought the umpires got the stump mic effects through their ear pieces? Or they did a few years back maybe. Might explain Dar giving him out on the noise that came through on a later replay.

Anyway you lot should be thanking Bell as he batted for at least another hour and took time out the game. Got more chance of saving the game now.

Deafening silence from the English posters who pasted Hughes about Bell gaming the system. Isn't hypocrisy fun.
Personally i thought Bell was out. The thing is, both incidents were referred and the 3rd umpire gave a decision. End of discussion.

Ratfaced Hughes still claimed a bump ball catch whatever you may think of Bell.
Was in bed when it happened.

Will say now that once I saw the replay properly at close, it looked dead and gone and this is the first time I've posted since. I am no lipreader but I saw Bell say 'I don't know if I've hit it' too.

I only called Hughes a cheat once, in the immediate aftermath, but I will retract it because Alastair Cook said that Hughes told him he wasn't sure. Fair is fair.

Doesn't every England skipper get a new Jag every year? Tony Greig was saying as much yesterday. When he used to chat to Len Hutton, the latter used to shake his head in disbelief at it apparently.

Must be hard of hearing Bell too. Always felt a batsmen knows when he nicks it as well
tbf if he didn't feel it then i suppose you can be in some doubt. i remember last year in hobart clarke was given not out when there was a big noise, reviewed to no avail. clarke then was heard talking to ponting about "there was a noise but i didn't feel i hit it at all". snicko showed that the noise just happened out of nowhere and couldn't have been bat hitting ball.

no doubts here though - that was a nick for sure.

Was suggested it was a clicky bat handle iirc.

Rubbish. Maybe I'm not much of batsman, but there was a time I was incensed to be given out caught behind as I hadn't felt anything, but my batting partner swore blind that he felt I edged it

Interesting. So, Bell was given out caught behind, asked for the review, nothing obvious on the review but Dar overturned it. Now, they're not allowed to use snicko but Dar overturning it seems odd to say the least.
