Boult is one that everybody seems to have forgotten too. Still want to know why he was picked for the Aus tour then never again.

EDIT:hasn't even made the 30 man world cup squad when Doug Bracewell and Adam Milne have, what's he done? His performances have been solid

Back Injury. He picked it up about a month after that tour and only played sporadically last season.

Looking at the NZ test squad, the team pretty much picks itself:

TG McIntosh
BB McCullum
MJ Guptill/JEC Franklin
LRPL Taylor
JD Ryder/JEC Franklin
KS Williamson/JEC Franklin
RA Young
DL Vettori
TG Southee/DR Tuffey
BJ Arnel/DR Tuffey
CS Martin

Given that Tuffey is a late replacement in the squad I assume he's just there to cover for injury and it's unlikely he'll make the starting 11.
The only question is whether Franklin can force his way in at the expense of Guptill, Williamson or an injured Ryder.

Ah, no they don't. The last time Franklin played test cricket (as a batsmen) his average was under 20. I couldn't give a toss about his bowling either, this isn't one day cricket.
I don't think it was actually.

Yeah it was 26.

When was that West Indian tour? Pretty sure the Indian tour was the one where he actually batted in the top 6.

Franklin shouldn`t get in ahead of Guptill or Williamson, but I`m thinking that the selectors will be very tempted to include him as the 5th bowler.

Can't see it personally. They may bring him in at Wellington since it's his home ground, and he's done well there in the past, but at Hamilton I reckon it'll be:

Bmac
Tmac
Guptill
Taylor
Ryder
Williamson
Vettori
Young
Southee
Arnel
Martin

Will Ryder do any bowling, do you think?

I have a feeling we will need a 5th bowler at some stage to give the aging Martin and Southee a rest. Arnel gives me the impression he could bowl all day.

Williamson should be good for an over or two. But I really think its 50/50 between him and Franklin at this stage. Franklin will get the nod if it's a greentop.

Nah, no chance, his shoulder flared up earlier in the week they won't risk aggravating it.
