Lara has not played for a while and hopefully does not embarass himself in the IPL.

Even when he played in the ICL he was ordinary in this format.


And with that base price i can't also see there being too many suitors for him ,though i am sure he will get picked.

These contracts are supposed to be for 3 years and he is already 40. So that aspect has to be kept in mind too.
Not sure how fit he is too.

True, but he is not an idiot. He wouldn't put himself in the 400,000 bracket after how many years in retirement unless he knew someone was interested in having him in their team. I hope he does well it wasn't fun watching class players like Damien Martyn and co fail last time.

I don't see any team giving Lara a free role too ,as much as Rajasthan did with Warne.

I doubt Mumbai will go for Lara. They have already used up half of their auction budget. And by now, all teams have realized that the core strength of the team comes from having good indian players. I see them going for indian talents like Yuvraj, Uthappa, Tiwary, Rayudu, Harbhajan, Rohit Sharma and so on.

Besides that, the only thing going for Lara is the brand value. Mumbai doesn't need that as much since they already have Tendulkar.

Found Mick Lewis funnier tbh, but yeah it's ridiculous to see a guy who hasn't played professional cricket for over 4 years wanting in. At least Lara was an all-time great...Powell was one of the worst cricketers (if not THE worst) to play 100+ ODI's.

Because Ganguly chose that price. The players decide their base price, not the IPL committee. Personally, I think it's a smart choice. I do fear for Lara. He does run the risk of not getting any bids

Can't see Luke Wright being picked up by any team. Really have doubts about Broad being picked too, the six sixes will be playing on a lot of buyers' minds I reckon. Swann could find a team.

Luke Wright doesn't look overly spectacular in the HRV 20/20 cup down in NZ. A lot of players that would be more useful for 400,000.

I hope Lara does well... It would be awesome if Mumbai got him. Sachin and Lara batting together
