Whatever it takes!!!
The bowlers need to step up, the batsmen weren't all that bad - six hundred runs for the match despite a horrible collapse in the first innings.
yeah.. but bowlers can't do much when you get bowled out for 136.. I do think they will get better as the series goes on and Zak will make a big difference. Let's see...

Yes, the batting wasn't great, but they at least showed fight in the second innings. The bowling, on the other hand, was just dismal; two hundred plus runs conceded in one session, six hundred and twenty for four - that is just inexcusable.

They can do a lot better than allow de Villiers and Kallis to pile on 4,000 runs in a session.*

*may be exaggerating slightly

Haha yeah. It's much more concerning how easily Smith and Peterson saw off the new ball on a pitch that wasn't yet flat.. in desperate need of some Zaheer.

Over 50,000 tickets sold for the Boxing Day test so far. Very encouraging. Though it will be interesting to see how much support India gets there. Use to be a home ground for them during the 90s as many locals supported anyone but South Africa.

Kingsmead has turned into a bit of a bogey ground for South Africa recently, not won there in over 2 years and they have recent form to collapsing to left hand seamers there (Johnson, RIP Singh) and Bhaji should enjoy the extra bounce. Though after the Wanderers it is the quickest ground in South Africa, so that should suit Steyn and Morkel.

How common is that these days?

Believe it is much better thanks to emergence of Amla. But is has never been an issue outside Durban, unlike in rugby where you still get the morons supporting the All Blacks and booing representative South African sides. Had a bit of crowd trouble in the 90s during Pak and India games and few RSA players got in a bit of trouble for laying into the crowd but don't think there has been any trouble since. Gibbs had an "encounter" with a few Pakistani fans a while back but they were not South African.

Cricinfo thinks the weather could be iffy for this test but the forecast I'm getting is pretty good. Bad light will be the killer. Usually don't get much play after 5pm in Durban.

Gotta go with Parnell if there is pace and bounce in the wicket and maybe a McLaren/Philander type bowler at Cape Town (or de Wet of course). Pressure on Prince with Duminy in the squad and that after JP scored a run-a-ball double hundred domestically.

Really like Duminy.. hope he gets back into the team soon. Thought he batted well in the recent ODIs against Pakistan, but Prince will be hard to dislodge. So much competition for places in the SA middle order right now.

Zaheer to perform badly this match. The law of averages has to catch up. Surely, He suddenly can't be this good this year.
