if clarke keeps failing, why should he be in the team?
Because he's actually quite a good player who is going through a rough patch?

The selectors have taught us at CW a lesson here. We may laugh at the truism that "form is temporary and class is permanent" but you don't discard an average of 48, hovering at 50 for a few years lightly. Else Hussey would not have come anywhere near the side for this series - and imagine where we'd be then.

I'll stick my hand up and say I fell into this trap before this series. Never been happier to be so wrong.

No, the hypocritical thing is some English posters moaning about the likes of social and SoC refusing to give England credit when they play well and then doing the exact same thing now.

Posters from both sides have over-rated the impact of their own team's performance on the outcomes, particularly when they've been losing. Definitely not talking about you, FWIW, but it's happened with lots from both sides throughout the whole series.
I agree...I don't agree with being grouped in with Social, or that I've refused to give England credit given I've said they'd bowled 1000X better than us up until yesterday. But I agree none-the-less.

I don't agree, however, that every ball that takes a wicket is 'excellent', or 'unbelievable'. Words that seemed to be bandied about like the phrase "she's hot" at a women's golf tournament, where standards usually drop to an all-time low.

I thought Kevin Pietersen's shot was terrible, just like Clarke's. Not sure whether that means I have double-standards or not now.

The poor old sub had no idea what to do when everyone was jumping around after Smith took the catch. He just stood there awkwardly trying to high 5 people

Apparently Greg lives on the same street as I do. Shall I ask him to?

Is it the same guy who was on yesterday fielding? He looked spooked then too.

Actually I've cooled down now.

Probably the worst thing is that two of our batsman are supposedly in the form of their lives, another two have just scored 100's (or 200's) in their previous game and Strauss was supposedly in the form of his life in the freaking warm-up games. I want to know exactly what happened up there to make us wilt so feebly despite all of this being in our favour. I mean all of the guys I've mentioned before got out for nothing, except Bell - and even he hasn't got to the middle yet.
Didn't think this part was ever true though...they were in good form on flat decks against bowlers bowling a fair amount of rubbish. I don't want that to sound like I'm dismissing English efforts in the first two tests. They outplayed us comprehensively from the second innings in Brisbane through to the end of the Adelaide test.

They comprehensively out-bowled us though as well as out-batting us. I think that's where this 'form of their lives' rubbish came from, when in reality the Australian bowlers rarely tested them in the right areas. Lo and behold, you can still get Cook around off-stump, along with any other batsman if you bowl the right lines consistently.

If any bowling team gets it in the right areas then they've given themselves a good chance of getting the batsmen out. We didn't do that until this test.

Nah, Son of Coco is quite happy to give **** loads of it to your bowlers no matter what.

Yes, have spent a lot of time singing our guys praises when they bowled rubbish for a test and a half. Talked Johnson up when he took 0/170 in Brisbane etc etc.

Unless I've mistaken what you mean by this, in which case I apologise.

I was very careful not to mention Swann or Anderson though, just in case it resulted in tears.

Would it be too risky to go to the G with Hughes, usman and smith in the team?

Would consider klinger for a one time crack at no.3
