Australian cricket fan talking about the good old days? Surely not?

Change the record old man, the only sport you're world leaders in now is Aussie Rules and that's because no other country is ******** enough to play it.
I think Johnson changed the record yesterday.

You weren't bored for those 8 days though, surely?

I keep changing my mind about what we can chase.

Imagine the game should end on Sunday afternoon anyway.

This wicket is quick - that's what distinguishes it from the South African Test two years ago.

When it's quick, the bowlers are always in the game.

Therefore, a score of 300 puts us 50/50 at worst.

350 comfortable favourites.

400 red hot favourites.

Yes it looks game on now. A lead of 200 with seven wickets remaining, what do we expect England to be chasing, 350 ?
I'd take it, but that is my bare minimum lead.

No recognised spinner - I can see these Poms chasing 350 more 50% of the time against this attack, based on what I've seen this series. I don't like those odds.

450 in front please, 45 mins at them tonight and have them 2fer and >400 behind with 6 sessions to go.

Magic Johnson yesterday. I don't think he knows much about bowling, but when he's confidence is up he just gets in a groove. He really got into the game with the bat. It made him feel good about his cricket which he probably hasn't felt for a while.

Harris was good too - great engine, always at the batsman. He's a goer this bloke.

Hilf kept the lid on well yesterday.

At least our nightwatchmen, Punter and Pup, fell last night and therefore won't gum up the works today.

Think what we chase depends heavily on Hussey. Fancy Smith at 6, and obviously Haddin's in good nick, thereafter if we bowl well should rattle the rest. Big partnership this, Watson's due to give it away about now.

Hussey and Haddin, come on boys do us a favour, spoon one up for us.

Could be a good thing for Watson that stumps came when they did. At least now he has to start again, and therefore hopefully will be less likely to get out for 50/60 than if the innings was just played over the course of one day.

So good to see Johnson bore it up Strauss and Anderson with a bit of lip too. Both deserve it, frankly.

Highlight for me was that ball to Collingwood. To see an international batsman miss a ball by 30 centimetres when defending is a bit of a freak occurrence.

Unless it's Clarke or Ponting, that is

Yes quite possibly. He was looking pretty solid, but think frustration can get the better of him if we dry up his boundaries, and that's not by posting a man out at deep point for the rank bad ball. Don't understand that field setting, it is purely for a bad delivery.

Can't believe England didn't give Ponting more than he got. Think Johnson will get plenty when it's his turn too. Hope so, love it when it gets a bit tasty!

Ha ha. They were winding Botham up in comms box today, Hussain and Atherton both saying how much sense Chappelli talked, and how he knows his stuff.
Beefy too pig-headed to admit Chappell knows a bit about the game, or did he acknowledge that? I recall Chappell commentating on Botham I'm the 80s. He didn't disparage his cricket one bit tbf.

No he wasn't actually on commentary at the time, so presume he was milling about in the background. Atherton said he was a certainty to get a crack on the back of the head off Beef.

Earlier when he was on the microphone, Athers again was goading him when they were talking about the miss by Haddin and Watson, and how the Channel 9 team will probably be laying into them knowing all the good slip fielders in the box - Tubby, Warne, Healy there aswell. Athers said how good a slip fielder Chappelli was, and said "wasn't he Beefy ?", he just said "Yes, brilliant". Although not completely convinced of the sincerity in his voice.
