***Official*** Australian Domestic Season 2010/11

What are you on about, it was probably the match of the season.
If seeing the ball sail towards the boundary ball after ball is your thing, then yeah.... it would have to go down as a pretty exciting game. I personally though like a bit more of competition between bat and ball but in yesterday's game, things were totally loaded in favour of the batsmen.
Anyways great to see Lynn doing well, looks a pretty special talent and if he keeps this up, then he is likely to be one of the few blokes from QLD who might be considered for higher honours in the recent future.

Can't help but laugh every time I see his profile picture

From what I've read, he is great under pressure. We have 3 gems now waiting to take that #6 position, all we need to do is kick that hack out first.

Wait so you're calling a bloke you've never seen play before, a gem in the waiting, despite the fact that the apparent "hack" has already acheived so much more than him, and is of similar age?

Logical

So you're saying I shouldn't trust my sources? I will make better judgment of him when I see him, but for now from what I can gather he sounds a decent batsman.

Mark Sorrell, who is coach of the redbacks hasn't had his contract renewed for next season. Sorrell has resigned from his role as coach immeaditely and won't see out the rest of the season. Jeff Vaughen will coach the team for the rest of the season but Jamie Cox made it clear they on the look for a new coach. Jamie sounded like a bit of a tool when he made the announcement IMO.

Interesting last 3 weeks for SA. The two wins down in Tasmania suprised me, they played really good cricket down there I thought. I had written them off after they lost to Queensland. Even against NSW in the shield game, I thought they played pretty well against a team who SA haven't defeated in yonks in first class cricket. The Ryobi cup game was disappointing to go down like that, but SA played well enough in that game as well. Injuries don't help much either tbf..

Some random thoughts..

- It seems that both the batting and bowling are a bit inconsistent as usual. This season is repeating last season in some ways.

-Harris and Smith have both been dropped for the side. It's a shame because when Smith first came onto the scene he looked very promising.

- Klinger has been below average this season but he has carried the team in the last two seasons anyway.

- Blizzard shouldn't open the batting at all for the Redbacks as he looks much more comfortable in the middle order.

- O'Brien needs to make more substantial contributions in first class cricket with either bat or ball. It's no use taking 2/70 or making 30 odd with the bat all the time.

- Edmondson looked very quick in the shield game that I went to, he looks to be back in some decent bowling form. George's action and run up look a little better then about a month ago.

- Dan Christian, what a ****ing gun!

I ended up going to day 2 of NSW vs SA where Hauritz toned up.

I think having Christian at 7 would be ideal for Australia in both shorter formats. With Watson in the side, DC would be the sixth bowler.
Would prefer Smith tbh.

Chistian's batting is so much better than Smith's if you're playing them as a lower order hitter. I'd be hoping that Clarke could bowl by then as another spin option.

But then if Christian plays at 7 we could play 2 frontline spinners with the 2 full time seamers + Watson and Christian. I'm convinced Christian is THE man for that number 7 spot.

The match had everything. A Sublime innings by Khawaja, Maddinson producing a very fine innings which gave us hope for the future, very good bowling from Ben Edmonson, a nice direct hit for a run out early in the innings, an incredible innings by Christian, a few dropped catches including a sitter by Hauritz which could have cost NSW the victory, a century by the skipper Klinger only to get out in an ordinary way and a fantastic last over by Lee and the game was on the line up until the last ball of the 45th over.

I can't believe you think the match was dire, did you even watch it?

Jeez last week when someone was asking about questions to ask Warner, i said to ask him if he'd leave the blues to get shield games at another club. Personally i think it could be a good move for him. love to see a vic's t20 line up of warner, finch, hodge, hussey, white at the top order...

He has the potential to be a test cricketer. I'm not saying a great one but an ok one at least. He needs to be persisted with as he has sufficient technique to overcome his "basher" label.

Warner has 2nd XI form, deserves a go in FC cricket for sure. I reckon South Australia is the place for him, or QLD, states with suspect top 6's. I reckon he'd do better than Wes Robinson for WA too. Given the chance you just dont know what sort of impact he'd have.

Hmm yes he does look to have a sound technique. But he does look all at sea when batting at the longer version of the game imo. I've seen him play a few ODI knocks and it was as if he was just a sitting duck there, trying to poke at balls just outside the off-stump.

As I have said on many occasions, it is good to have a good technique as long as you know how to use it.
