Battle of the Ashes Moments

Have to change my vote to Larwood - Oldfield. It was probably the most important, famous delivery of all-time. It epitomised that series and the ramifications where both immediate and long lasting. It's lucky Oldfield recovered from a cricketing pov, really. The series would have undoubtedly been cancelled and it might have been a long time before the two sides played each other again.

Larwood, as it's one of the iconic Ashes moments IMO.

edit: is it just me or does Oldfield look like he's been pencilled in in that photo?
Haha, Ive long thought that about that photo.. one of the earlier efforts at a touch up.

Touch up in the photographic sense, not the Warne-Hurley sense.

It certainly looks like Oldfield's pads have been pencilled in, doesn't it?

It was a nasty blow.

In the cricketing sense, and not in the Divine Brown - Hugh Grant sense. Or the Peter Roebuck - youngster's bare buttocks sense.

Anyhow this round is a tough one. But I think it has to be Larwood. Any man whose nickname has such resonance 70 years on deserves my vote.

Lol indeed.
