They probably will, because they see him as a model of experience when Katich, Hussey and Punter quit (except Watto and Clarke have played more games, idiots), but what makes you so sure?

I think North will be picked because the selectors will be reluctant to make too many changes.

With one change forced (Katich) and one change all but forced (Doherty); the selectors are only likely to change one more, as four changes between Tests is just not done. So it's one of Bollinger or North, or neither, to go. Not my thinking but that's the way it'll be. I won't be at all surprised if North gets another go.

Hauritz the right pick and one that should have been made from the start.
Haven't seen enough of Smith in the long-form to make a judgement.
Bollinger is, IMO, a better bowler than Johnson but looked all at sea in Adelaide. Not sure either of them are the right way to go.
Hughes is obviously the right call, will be interesting to see how he goes.
All in all I just think Australia need to make their mind up a bit. The Hauritz/Johnson debacles are sending great signals to England, from our POV.

You can probably debate a couple of those changes, but not Dohers and North. That's the very real damage that the selectors have done; they should never have had those guys there to begin the Series. And, to a man, most on this forum said so at the time, not in hindsight. But we've had to endure them for almost half the Series! Not good enough for such basic errors to be made. We don't have the luxury of making selection errors these days.

It's kind of carnage, but primarily a mix of reshuffling and enforced changes.
Could see Hauritz coming back in. Smith is a bit of a surprise.

Have to think there paranoid about Swann with the no left arm bowlers, or Bollinger not fit enough, either way I'm just happy North is out of the team.
