*Official* Second Test at the Adelaide Oval

It better not rain, would be soooo unjust.
It will probably rain a bit but not enough to save the Aussies.

Weather intervened in Cardiff. Had it not, Australia might have still held the Ashes after the 2009 series, Punter's poor tactics with the last pair notwithstanding.

It's one of the variables in cricket that captains have to deal with.

Would have sent Swann in myself. He could really get under the skin of the Aussies in addition to scoring quickly. Surely England want to declare with a 300 lead and have Aus batting before tea.
lol why would they do that? Aim to get a lead of 400 and half 8 overs at them tonight, leaves 2 days to bowl them out.

Chappell and Maxwell are on tms and they can only remember 2 occassions when a days play has been lost to rain in adelaide.

There may be interruptions, but we'll have enough time, and the odd half hour for a rain delay will spruce up the pitch and give the bowlers a rest.

They may aim for a lead of 350-400, insert before stumps and hope to take the ten wickets. It's obvious they won't be batting again.
Just keep batting, all this 10 overs before stumps stuff grinds on me... if we have top order players still in... then just keep going. 700+...

Would you be the first to complain if you had a lead of 500 but ran out of time?

would declare with an hour to go myself. think the pitch will get slower (test cricket nowadays), so would want Swann bowling when there's turn and bounce.

Was rumoured to be carrying an injury before the series. Doubt the proceedings so far would have added to the temper of an irascible man.
Had a real shocker of a match, hasn't he?

I thought Clarke and Johnson had mares last time, but wow...

And before the outfield gets wet. Not sure if spinners like bowling with a wet ball.

They may, but given the forecast Id try and get them in before tea with a 300 lead.

Normally Im all for batting as long as possible but 5 days is a finite amount of time to achieve a result and a lot of time may be lost so you have to balance the usual tactics with game situation and weather forecast.

It's going to rain soon, doubt we'll have play after Tea.

Forecast for 20-40mm rain tomorrow and 40-80mm rain on Tuesday.

We can still hope.
