Have just tuned in to see Johnson bowling 4 feet down the leg side and Cook blocking a half volley

Now Ponting has been denied a clear catch

That was out for mine. Normally with these ones you see the ball bounce back up in to the hands, and that one clearly didn't.

Yes, but if you swap 'The Australian Cricket Team' for 'The Economy', I think you'll get a similar result.

The John Howard years just put a mentality in place that doesn't translate to tougher times. Did nothing while times were good, gave us nothing for the tough times
caugh, caugh, left 90 odd billion in the future fund that Labour used to avoid recession as part of a $160 billion spend.

It's his own fault, if he did catch it, he should have claimed it instead of been unsure about it.Pointing usually would be sure of that.

I think that was a catch. Punter did himself no favours with the lack of celebration - even if he just chucked it in the air and showed a bit of confidence about it I think it might have just swayed the decision.

I think you'll find the lack of celebration may have to do with the fact that it's one for four hundred and fifty runs.

EDIT: Ponting, please keep bowling Johnson. Get the declaration done with and save our proper bowlers for Adelaide.

Cook has scored more in this match than what he did on the entire tour four years ago. Talk about filling your boots. Can't blame him though, he did the hard yards as well.

Ponting, WAC.

If you go to the umpires because you're not sure, don't be surprised when they go to the TV umpire who can't give it.

Reckon he probably caught it, but there was a sort of bounce when the ball went into his hands - probably because he squeezed his fingers round the ball and pushed it up.

I don't mean he should've celebrated like a normal wicket. But at least throw the ball if the air and walk up to the bowler to pat him on the back. As it was he just stood up with the ball in his hands and stared blankly at the umpire.

Haha such bull**** arguments above. Yeah it's the fielder's fault for not celebrating like crazy that the third umpire didn't give it.

Rubbish imo. Hodge, David Hussey, Harris, Copeland, Bollinger. and probably a few more, would all have made an impact on this game.
Yeah you've got a point, but realistically, they are about as gooder players as the back-ups in the 1990's like Law, Lehmann etc were.

The main difference in the cattle is that back then the best players we had were the best players in the world - that isn't the same case now unfortunately, as a large majority of our side is merely serviceable outside Watson/Ponting/M Clarke/Haddin.
