To be fair, India's fast bowlers were the architects of that victory; Rahul Dravid played a good hand, but the win can hardly be attributed to him alone.Top-scored in Perth.

I can't wait for the series to start though. It seems (on paper) that it would be great contest between bat and ball but I won't be surprised if I saw the ball from the SA side dominating the Indian bats.IMO, Laxy's the key here, not dravid. Expect him to play some superb knocks under pressure.
And I won't be surprised if the much ridiculed Indian bowlers look like world beaters either.I can't wait for the series to start though. It seems (on paper) that it would be great contest between bat and ball but I won't be surprised if I saw the ball from the SA side dominating the Indian bats.
And whose ****ty idea was it to have the series started without a practice game before such an important series?????????
AWTA, can't expect much more from BCCI, tbh.India in South Africa: Kirsten to depart early for SA | Cricket News | South Africa v India | ESPN Cricinfo
Doesn't make up for the absence of a warmup game, but decent move.
Zaheer Khan (if fit) should be decent on those surfaces. I am not too sure about others looking like world beaters. And I won't be surprised if the much ridiculed Indian bowlers look like world beaters either.

One of the smartest things BCCI have ever done.India in South Africa: Kirsten to depart early for SA | Cricket News | South Africa v India | ESPN Cricinfo

If they prepare green tops, will sure be much more than decent imo. Sreesanth/Ishanth are good in Swinging/bouncy tracks.Zaheer Khan (if fit) should be decent on those surfaces. I am not too sure about others looking like world beaters.
The good thing for India is that Gary Kirsten is the coach. He has as much experience of SA conditions as anybody and he is there to guide the batsmen. His experience should come in handy for India.
Zaheer averages almost 40 on green tops of SA. Ishant averaged 60 in Aus & 40 in NZ last time. Saffers are already quacking in theri boots. If they prepare green tops, will sure be much more than decent imo. Sreesanth/Ishanth are good in Swinging/bouncy tracks.
If its marginally hitting the stumps, give it out. Simple. The rules of the game do not ask the umpires to consider margins when making decisions on lbw calls.Well what would you do with marginal calls instead Shri?
And vcs, it's more perfect than leaving it to solely to umpires.
But Hawkeye isn't perfect. If it was, then sure go with whatever it tells you. Otherwise the element of doubt should reside with the Umpire's original call. I mean if something like 6% of the ball was hitting the stumps it'd be pretty **** to give it out.If its marginally hitting the stumps, give it out. Simple. If it is hitting the stumps, it is hitting the stumps. Doesn't matter if it is 6% or 1%. If it is used extensively, people will get used to it and realize that it is actually fair. But Hawkeye isn't perfect. If it was, then sure go with whatever it tells you.
