*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Not Terrible
Best cricketing pitch in yonks no doubt but there will be some anger at a 4 day Test from certain circles I reckon. Particularly one that draws as many as the Ashes.

The difference for mine is how much better Haddin is with the stick than prior.
I always knew that. As said many times Haddin could bat in the top 6 and be quite decent if given the chance.

I don't understand why many people rate Prior with the bat, from what I've seen of him, especially from the last Ashes series, he really is quite dire.

I really don't think there will be any criticism if this ends on day four.

Yeah, I mean plenty of test matches end on day 4. It's neither here nor there really, shows both batting and bowling were given a chance. Would slightly favour the bowling, but that's most people's preference anyway.

Pretty sure batting with the red ball under massive floodlights isn't dangerous. It might not be ideal, but ews point is that just because conditions change or start to favour one side significantly doesn't mean the game should stop.

Pitch has been ok, I'm sure we'll see plenty worse as the series goes on.

That's what I meant.

SCG pitch last year was pretty green, but that was because the ground staff did that on purpose. I think they will be trying to make it flatter for this Ashes series. Also the rain can't continue for too long, pretty sure the sun will start baking most of the pitches as the series goes on.

The pitches won't be that flat really, apart from perhaps Adelaide.

So because Prior copped a first-baller Haddin is now the difference? Laughable logic. And as for the 09 Ashes? Firstly what a joke but not a surprise to see an Englishman judged purely on one series. And secondly, yes Haddin was statistically superior to Prior last time out, but after Cardiff what exactly did he do?

Not much between them IMO.

Yeah agreed they are very equal IMO - Haddin has made more runs but he dropped Anderson and England made a further 31 runs so Haddin needs to make a few more runs yet.

Matt Prior is okay with the bat. Whether or not he is better than Brad Haddin is debatable, but he certainly knows one end of the bat from the other.

All been said before, but North's continued selection is mind boggling....last 5 Tests..

0, 20
16, 0
0,10
128, 3
1, ?

178 runs @ 19.78......another fail in the 2nd innings and surely that will be it?

Mate of mine said he heard on the radio that the boxing day test match is set to break record attendance. Cannot wait! They did rumour that 4 years tbf, but we'll wait and see.
