300 is a good score on this pitch. Any more than 350 and Australia will be ahead in the game as there's enough in the pitch and the weather to keep all the bowlers interested. 100 or more in front and they'll be in the box seat, tbh.

Reckon this mornings session will be delayed/interuppted due to rain, is showering here bout 150ks west of Brisbane, but there's no real cloud after it so fingers crossed the rest of the day is fine.

It sounds like the forecast for today will be almost identical to yesterday - a bit of rain/cloud cover in the morning followed by mostly clear conditions with a bit of sun shining through. So at least that makes for fair cricket, where one side can't say they've been hard done by.

Hopefully the cloud coverage and rain stays away so that Jimmy will struggle. Be interesting to see how he goes though. Reckon Australia needs at least a 100 run lead this innings, because you never know whether or not we're going to collapse in the second innings.

For some reason even when there was some cloud cover later in the day, both Watson and Hilf weren't really getting much assistance from the swing. It was the seam movement which proved to be the killer. Almost all the big wickets were brought about by good seaming deliveries.

Everything is suggesting England pitch the ball up on this deck, so you can be sure that Broad and Anderson will kick the day off with some tasty half trackers. Not feeling particularly optimistic.

Xavier Doherty seems a really genuinly top person. One of the most modest and respectful interviews i've seen in a long time. Must be the European blood :p

Not sure I massively agree with a lot of opinions that this attack isn't suited to these Aussie conditions. The swing was there for a large portion of yesterday, so Anderson should be interesting, Doherty was getting a bit of spin out of the footmarks so Swann will defintely look forward to bowling to the left-handers. Broad should go ok some bounce and swing around for him, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Finn uses these conditions.

Not saying we're going to roll Australia by any stretch, Ponting is the massive key for me, but I hope we can restrict their lead to around 50 maximum.

It was interesting the comparison Sky was doing between Siddle yesterday and Broad last year at the Oval, very similar lengths bowled and the wickets of Prior from yesterday and Haddin last year were practically the same. If Broad can find a similar line and length he will be in business.

Swann is a Johnson type bowler. When he doesn't pitch it right like we saw in Cardiff, he produces the juiciest pies.

Cautiously optimistic going into tonight. Could really do with an early wicket or two to lay down some intent.

Not a betting man (other than the one time which shall never again be spoken of) but I'm going to go right ahead and tip Watto to be nailed by Broad on the crease within the first half-hour of play.
