*Official* First Test at the Gabba

Don't think that was anyone's session. The wicket looks excellent for batting and really doesn't look like it's giving much to the bowlers. So that being said, I definately don't think you could say it's advantage England.
Yeah that's why I'd say it was Australia's session, just. Don't think England would've taken 86/2 at the start of play if they knew the pitch would play like it did, especially if you told them Cook would be one of the not out batsmen.

The Sofa's giving the session to England. Quite decent but I think once two of the following three: Cook, KP, or Prior falls then you can kiss the 1st innings goodbye at least.

Very good session of cricket. I must say that Pietersen looks sharp today and other than the dropped catch by Doherty, he looks good.

Yeah England can really make merry in the next session.

Love the Gabba Test, probably my favourite Ashes Test in either country.

Decent session.

Going to bed for a bit. Try not to miss me too much.
Lunch breaks are killers. Debating whether to go for a walk round the block. Times like these I wish I smoked.

Even session, maybe just England's session because need to do damage early doors here at the Gabba.

Reckon the pitch is actually playing a little bit like Cardiff in 2009.
'Strayla's marginally IMHO, especially if you do the Boycott trick of taking two wickets off the score.

Looks a 400-par pitch to me, no demons at all.

Agree with the majority that its about an even game after the first session - would've been Australia's had Doherty managed to hold onto Cook, although in saying that I don't think Cook'll last much longer TBH. As for the referral, I think it was worthwhile using it - it was a reasonably close call and had it been given England would've been 2 down in the first half hour.

So you're awarding the session to Australia based on the fact that 86/4 looks bad, despite Australia rarely threatening?

This has been England's session. However this is our turf and things can change quickly, even if England could be 2/200 at tea.
