Sorry, you are aware this is SA you're talking about?
Haha, well I was trying to give them the benefit of doubt. India have also been guilty of not pushing for wins away from home in recent times, albeit with series leads in the bags (Oval 2007, Wellington last year).

Oval 2007 was Dravid's best captaincy decision.

Sure it's not Aussies 2000-2005 awesome confident style, but he made sure we won the series.

Playing for a draw when you are 1-0 up is oh so different to playing for a draw when you are 0-0 against a poo team.

Wellington is harsh to claim Dhoni didn't go for it. Rain stopped us from winning, though we didn't need a lead of 600+ yeah

Also the 2nd Test at home to England, where he claimed he was waiting for Waterboy and Gambhir to reach personal milestones. Though that one was more acceptable as there was next to no chance of any result IIRC.

Yeah fair enough, either way 1-0 and playing for a draw (or ensuring absolutely 0% chance of loss) may not be exciting, but it's understandable.

At 0-0 its ****.

Just looking at the Wellington match again, just prior to the rain a plumb LBW wasn't given and then Ishant dropped a sitter at square leg.

So ****, should have won that match, but no doubt Dhoni could have declared around 40 minutes earlier. In the end though, it was an away win whatever happened, so I can understand why he did it.

Pak doing favors for India. First making sure Smith's injury gets worse and then now it is the man in form Amla who has been taken off the field :)......

In my opinion, the performances of the two Indian openers will go a long way in deciding India's fate in the series. The new ball will certainly do a lot; it is imperative that the openers survive the tough period. If India lose two-three quick wickets to the new ball then they are screwed, plain and simple.

the better bowling side will take the series in my opinion.....think a 5 bowler attack would suit india.

Zak won't be too pleased actually

It's gonna be a tough tour though. At least all the guys who were out of form are now back among the runs/wickets. Even if it was against NZ.

NZ batting is test standard IMO so wickets against them should be noteworthy.

u r right ...but wrt the entire series i think the better bowling side would prevail....which as of now is south africa.....

Seems like it will be tough. Steyn looked pretty decent in the second test match even on one of the flattest pitches going around.

Might wreak havoc on the Indian line-up in suitable conditions.

The side with the better slip cordon will win. Sehwag will give 'em a couple of chances early on, if they don't hang onto it, it will be a long day in the field for the SA players.

well ...indian slippers been dropping a few.....even laxman dropped few recently and with dravid it seems his batting form has had an impact on his catching as well

Really! I haven't seen any such thing from Sehwag in the recent NZ series. He is in prime form, if anything Steyn & Co. are in for further punishment.

I would agree that South Africa are the better bowling side, but I am not sure that the difference between the two attacks is as big as being made out. India's fast bowlers have generally done well on overseas tours.
