*Official* Pakistan v South Africa in Dubai

The umpiring was atrocious. There were as many as four shockers in one day; one in favour of Pakistan and three in favour of South Africa. Ashoka De Silva does not deserve to officiate club matches, let alone international matches featuring two quality sides.

seriously in any other profession you can't keep your job if you are this bad I know umpiring is a thankless job but these two take it to extreme no way should an elite umpire be making 4 wrong desicions in a day.UDRS or no UDRS Ashocka and Harper should have no place at this leval it makes cricket as a sport comes across as unprofessional.

Daryl Harper is not bad, to be honest; but Ashoka De Silva is crap. Not having UDRS in no way justifies these shockers. I can understand a couple of close calls being turned down, but the four decisions today were so obviously wrong. The one that shocked me most was that AB De Villiers lbw. It was PLUMB. It was hitting middle of middle.

Haha, so do I. But I can just imagine the sort of over-the-top praise we'd be seeing on here if Tendulkar or Ponting had played that innings. Kallis, as always, under-appreciated.
Under-appreciated innings, this, like so many of Kallis's. South Africa get sent in and Kallis comes out at 6/2. Shortly after, they're 33/3. Kallis peels off a ton. No-one cares.
Kallis. :notworthy

Yeah... couldn't agree anymore with PEWS in regard to Kallis, but I guess people just don't love or appreciate blokes like him, Dravid or Hussey for what they do because they are probably not as aesthetically pleasing as a Tendulkar or Ponting, or maybe because they don't dominate attacks like them.
I mean there is a possible argument that Kallis is probably the best cricketer of his generation, 250 plus test wkts, 10,000 plus test runs, 100 plus catches, now don't know what else you need to do to be truly appreciated.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that it's a very watertight argument as well. Reckon he'll get the recognition if/when he passes Tendulkar/Ponting's run tally, which I've been quietly tipping him to do, seeing as he's a couple of years younger.

Dravid and Hussey receive(d) more fanfare and attention than Kallis though.

A mixture of being South African, a quiet bloke and batting at a slower strike rate has resulted in him flying under the radar so often.

Love Kallis. Who could pass up a world class batsman plus (in his younger days) a genuine seam bowler all in one cricketer?

Sorry did you just bracket Hussey with Dravid and Kallis?

There are not many Saffie posters on this site are there? Probably one other reason why Kallis isn't talked about as much. Same with Amla and his recent exploits. I think Steyn is the only SA player who is really worshipped here.

still can't get over the fact that Pakistan choose to bowl, sure Steyn and Morkal could have had us 80/7 but but they can do that to Pakistan even if its is not hooping around.Batting first is your best chance for a win in sub cont.

Not that many WI fans on CW, and Lara and Shiv get plenty of love. Same with Sanga with not that many SL fans.

Yeah. I said that could be a possible reason as outside of Cricketweb many cricket fans I come across are huge Kallis fanboys or rate him very highly. On here there's plenty of talk about him being selfish, boring to watch etc. during umpteen comparisons with other batsmen.

Thats cause most of these CWers are fast bowling fans and Steyn is probably 'the' only fast bowler we love watching!

Even the TMS commentary was harping on about Kallis being a boring cricketer in the last ODI game where he made 90 odd and took three top-order wickets and they're cricket geeks like those on this forum.. safe to say Kallis just invokes that sentiment in the majority of people for some strange reason. That's no reason not to salute his magnificent accomplishments though. Truly amazing. :notworthy
