*Official* West Indies in Sri Lanka 2010

Russell has definitely looked a bit raw but there's more to him than Pascal at the moment IMO; I'd give him a more extended run.
both looks average imo, once taylor and Edwards are fully fit they will not play a test match for long time.

Well, Suleimann Benn has to come in for somebody for the next test, and indications are that it might be Russell, though one might be hard pushed to ask what Sammy's contributed to the match so far....
Also, Roach doesn't look fully fit, and may be doubtful for the second Test.

He still bowled second most overs in both innings though but I guess we'll know tomorrow.

And I didn't say the ball is turning miles either. Just that it isn't extremely flat. Decent batting track, yes.
Taking my words so literally! Still think it's a really good batting track. Little bit of spin but no seam movement or inconsistent bounce

Well play has been called off now so we're still ahead!!.. the only glimmer of hope i have is we took seven wickets today before tea when the lads were fresh!!.. a good rest tonight and new plans in place for tomorrow and i guess anything is possible, the fact that we made them follow on in the first place was a miracle in the first place,

We'll certainly need to get some early wickets though that's for sure, someone will need to step up big time, looking ahead though i'm excited about the prospect of Shilly and Benn teaming up again, they caused SA all sorts of problems and i see them doing the same to SL, Benn will give our bowling unit another danger man cause right now we're only counting on Roach and Shilly,

I'm also a little disappointed in Russell, he's done ok but we expect a little more from him, i think Pascal may come in for the next test and he's a fast kid himself who can swing the ball.
Even though this match will most likely be a draw, it's still a great result for the Windies IMO.

What about Gavin Tonge? Thought he looked like a decent prospect from the few ODIs I watched him play. Is he even in the pecking order?

Aite then. This are typical SL wickets. Slow turning wickets and there will be more turn on offer tomorrow.

Think the interruption came at a good time for WI, they looked flat and unlikely to take wickets and Dilshan was threatening to take a big chunk out of that lead. Tomorrow they can regroup, but their only chance of getting a result is to bowl SL out in two sessions and chase ~100. Unlikely, but hey, atleast they're the only team that can win it from here.

Nearly impossible IMO, 10 SL wickets in max 90 overs (being optimistic), sounds damn hard.

WI have worked themselves into a very good position in this Test, would obviously have been ideal if they'd have picked up a couple of wickets before the close on day four, but their performance to date should give Otis Gibson great heart.

It was really expected that both India and SL would have an easy time of taking care of NZ and WI, but it's not proved to be the case so far, good disciplined batting by the minnows of these placid pitches have made them very difficult to beat, much to India and SL's surprise it must be said.

So we're minnows now?:p

The most important thing for both sides is backing this up. We've known for ages that WI, NZ and Pakistan can produce good stuff, they just don't do it consistently. That's what separates them from the top five. The days where none of their players would make top five sides are over. Australia for example, would kill for Jesse Ryder or Shivnarine Chanderpaul in their middle order.

Love the way Roach takes a high percentage of his wickets through full-length yorkers. Proper fast bowler's dismissal. Dilshan gone, important wicket that for the W. Indies, but Sanga will be the main hurdle.

Sanga dropped first ball as well. Maybe the square leg umpire distracted the fielder a bit, but can't help but feel that was WI's big opportunity.

Still, Shillingford might trouble Sanga a bit early.

Sanga gooone!! Roach gets his man caught at gully. Fabulous spell from Roach this.
