Or perhaps his batting would never have come on had he not given up the bowling? It's a shame he doesn't bowl anymore, but he adds so much more value to Sri Lanka as a batsman. My god, Samaraweera could've been a gun all-rounder had he been used better/not got the yips.
What went on there?Gayle out. Seemed to be too focused on beating that 319, went comparatively into his shell today.
Average is 43 in SL domestic stuff. That's higher than Sangakarra and Jayasuria, for example. Plus, heaps of bowlers average ~ 20 in SL cricket.Or perhaps his batting would never have come on had he not given up the bowling? It's a shame he doesn't bowl anymore, but he adds so much more value to Sri Lanka as a batsman.
Yeah, the rationale for his inclusion always makes me laugh. He gets picked over the likes of Nuwan because he's capable of bowling quickly of flat decks, but whenever he plays on a flat deck he averages out at about 82mph anyway, because - like most bowlers - he doesn't see much point and steaming in and letting the ball go at full pace for 30 overs of bowling just for the pitch to completely take the sting out of it. And unlike Nuwan, he's laughably bat when he's bowling at that pace as he still sprays it around and has no idea how to bowl to a plan or a field.Dammika Prasad is another Fernando and just as useless.
Yup, another 20 overs of bash, I wouldn't put it past Gayle to get close to 400WAG, just slog away now and get that declaration out there.
More useless possibly.Dammika Prasad is another Fernando and just as useless.
What went on here??? Can anybody shed some light?? Was Gayle out or not??? Why did the 3rd umpire over-rule it???Yeah, he was out and the 3rd umpire overruled it.
Is Gayle allowed to bat for all 5 days? Could he be fined for deliberately drawing the game for the record?
