Scorecards on Cricinfo are not that reliable it would seem...

They have Ray Price bowling 46 overs for Mashonaland and given away a mere 11 runs despite only bowling 9 maidens.

Looks like Hamilton Masakadza hit a career best though (188).

Supposed to be 111 runs. The bowling adds up exactly 100 short.

Good to see Zimbabwe domestic competition back on track... :-) Hope they can get a decent team by 2011 Cricket World Cup... Best wishes!

Thought I'd give a little update on this. I've gone to quite a few matches here in Harare and I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed this new domestic cricket set-up. When I went to the Logan cup match between Mashonaland and Matabeleland I got to have a chat with Sean Williams and Tawanda Mupariwa which was very good and I've been able to get quite a few players signatures.

Logan Cup

The Mashonaland Eagles have dominated the Logan Cup so far with 5 wins and 3 losses and are comfortably in first place with a lead of 37 points ahead of the second placed side which is the Mountaineers. Vusi Sibanda has been outstanding with the bat having scored 894 runs at an average of 68 with six centuries next to his name. Forster Mutizwa has been very impressive with the bat and has played an important role in many of the Mashonaland Eagle's victories. Up and coming spin bowler Timycen Maruma has been outsanding with the ball picking up 43 wickets at an average of 14 not to mention five 5 wicket hauls and two 10 wicket hauls.

Faith One Day

There is only one more round of matches in the Faith One Day competition before the finals series begins which I'm looking forward to. The Mountaineers are on top of the table at the moment being undefeated as of yet.

Wow thanks for the links man, very interesting to see:)
With such a organised domestic competition the future looks alot brighter for Zimbabwean cricket - players will be picked for the national side on the basis of consistent domestic performances which imo is the basis for a successful national side.
Tell me - has Hondo got his dreadlocks?

It looks like things have gone really well so far; the standard just looks so much higher with the names that are back. Great to see Vusi churning out the runs. Have you seen him bat this season, Mupariwa_Magic? Also, what are the grounds like at the moment?

Not Terrible
Chris Harris, Tikolo and Lara all played in a T20 today for the Southern Rocks and besides Tikolo did pretty well.

Nick Compton has a blog on Cricinfo which should be interesting reading in the next few weeks.

Geez Lara's dismissal really wrecked his teams chances, they lost 7 for 13, including Chris Harris too batting at 8!

Such a shame Lara went out so early. Still felt like he much more to achieve and he had no viable competition to replace him. Even today he wouldn't be putting anyone out if he slotted into the Windies test/ODI/20/20 line-ups.

Anyhow, aside from Lara there is some more than decent overseas players plying their trade. Should only benefit the younger Zimbabwean guys to have the likes of Lara, RTD, Hall, Harris and Sidebottom around.

Good to see Ray Price is back playing again as well. Zim need him in Bangladesh. Though it looks like Elton has stopped bowling, so he would need to up his batting considerably if he has any hopes of remaining in the Zimbabwean side let alone captaining it.

Anyone know much about Pakistani born Sikandar Raza? Has only played professionally in Zim...

Dunno about that. I agree he shouldn't be captain but he holds his place as a batsman coming in at 6 or 7 to accelerate the innings, IMO. There aren't a lot of alternatives for that role other than Coventry and I prefer Elton.

Yeah, probably could make the side as a specialist number 7. Would like to have Taylor, Hamilton, Williams, Ballance & Taibu as the 5, then maybe Ervine junior at 6 with Elton at 7.

Yeah. That would mean finding ten overs out of Taylor, Williams and Masakadza, but I tend to agree.
Do you know if Ballace actually wants to play for Zimbabwe? Should be straight in the team if so.

At the moment, no, he is playing as an overseas player but as he can't break into Yorkshire's first team and with the World Cup just around the corner, Zim could get him on board. Uncle Houghton recruited Balance and a load of other English pros for the Zim franchise and I’m sure Davie would like Gary to represent Zim.

Wat a final? One of the best finals in domestic cricket I guess. Looks like gud number of spectators turned up too... Gud to see Zim getting back in shape here.

Is Cricket getting back its glory in Zim?
