Yeah, well none of these guys were dropped in such a hurry though, they were all given a fair run before being shown the door, in Hughes case they didn't even give him that breathing space, and that's my only problem with his axing at that time.
Also... how can Hughes show improvement in different aspects of his game, when he's carrying drinks for the Australian team most of the time .

Because the software I used to record it saved that as a 1GB file (wtf) it took me about four hours to upload it to YouTube. Lucky he didn't score a double ton...
Tell me about it. My vids are all about 1gb, 4-6 hours for me to upload. Bloody you tube.

Basically, McDonald's a #7 batsman and a fourth seamer at Test level in a good side. That's a role that could be found within some teams, even good teams (South Africa at home should they leave a spinner out, for example) but while Watson exists, he's surplice to requirements for Australia.
If he keeps batting like this then there is no harm in having a 5th seamer in there. All about him being able to hold a spot for his batting.

Mcdonalds batting's improved alot since he played with Aus. Watson does his role better though and with Mcdonald aging i can't see him getting selected Watto picks up an injury.

Looks good thus far (based on about four balls)
He looked very solid yesterday in the 20 odd balls he faced and now has looked comfortable against the ICC up and coming player for 09. The last ball in Siddle's last over troubled him a bit but that seemed to be more through the extra bounce from the pitch as he was playing a forward defence and it jumped up at him a bit.

Not a huge issue though especially considering the runs hes made. Probably wouldn't tinker with him unless he starts getting out due to it. Smith has hit some nice drives but straight to the man.

Getting worried about Ponting now... There should be hardly any pressure on him in these games and he is still getting out for low scores.

Gah. Smith out hooking, annoying. Especially given Clarke seems intent on staying in for a long, long time.
