Notice how he played the offies. Was a bit of a myth that he was troubled by spin, tbh. Unless you count this as being troubled by a spinner.......

heh, how late was he on that one. Afridi did 10 laps of honour before the bat came down.

So much more Blewett to come. Right now i'm uploading his 175 vs NSW in 98. Loads of Blewey. He only played Mushtaq badly in 95, and Kumble in 98, legspinners troubled him, offies he belted. Gt a 124 he made on the 97 Ashes tour vs Derby, smashed the off spinners.

Also just found Hayden 181 at the Gabba vs McGrath, 1997. Smashed Pidge all over.

Was talking to Scott Styris about the day McGrath and Gillespie made 50's against them. Reckons it was the worst moment of his career.

Did he even face Kumble that series? Srinath nailed him early generally.

EDIT: Just checked, yeah he did. Still, remember the pace troubling him more than anything and either getting him out or setting the spinners up to finish the job.

You only really see one or two shots of it though. Obviously not trying to rush robelinda cause it's sounds like he has an absolute treasure trove of videos to upload, but would love to be able to see more of it.

Havent looked up the scorecard but pretty sure 1st test 2nd inns Kumble got him, i'm sire there was one more too. 2nd test Srinath got him good early.

Plus Blewey had a real problem with pace bowlers who moved it into him, Srinath was a master at that. Outswingers he pummelled with that awesome cover drive.

His vast (vast) collection doesn't hold a candle to my Malaysia Super 8's footage from the late 90's, the cream surely Mark Taylor having a trundle.

Yeah thats some great stuff, those few years they played that super 8's was pretty good, Gilly was on fire, murderous stuff. Didnt he hit the king of Malaysia with one 8??? The one time it was held in QLD was good too.

Though, i'm going to have to get that stuff out, dont remember Mark Taylor even playing in the super 8's!!!

One interesting team was the Malaysian Invitation XI. Had blokes like AB, Jayasuriya, De Silva, etc. in it (who, AB aside, largely did nothing) but I remember some nobody by the name of Stuart Brew who was a blurn hitting machine and bowled handy meds. Wonder what happened to him?

Yep i remember that Malaysia side, Border was not in good shape! Team got hammered from memory.

Gilly just hit em miles over that short legside boundary, way over the roof and outta here. Might upload some of that stuff, pretty cool!

Also watched the highlights of NZ-Australia from the same WC. How awesome was Chris Cairns's fielding that day? Some sensational runouts in that match.

Yeah that was a nightmare game, tbh. The pressure on the Aussie team was massive and they ran into a NZ team which was better than they looked on paper. Batted like ducks for the tournament in general.
