Australian Team in 8 years

Probably someone really obscure will make it too. Siddle and Hilfenhaus have not made their FC debut by then iirc and Bollinger was not up to much.

Probably some 12 year old dominating junior cricket, I guess....

My young bloke, currently aged 8, will be in the side in eight years' time.

No pressure

If he's not good enough, he'll get a game for England I guess, under the grandfather rule.

just out of intrest what happened to michael hussey ?

wasnt he meant to be an up and coming aussie batsman?
This must have been only a few months from his debut.

Nope, he's 30 in May. I think he played a one dayer last summer but doesn't look like a Test batsman IMO. He's got a good average (around 50) but the problem is he plunders p*ssweak county attacks, which are just not up to international standard. In the pura cup, he belted 210 against the South Australians (who are absolute shockers, even though they have Rofe and Tait in their attack), but against the good teams he's done nothing. Not up to Test standard.
Heh, this is starting to look accurate after Huss lost his purple patch.

Bit crazy to say he's not up to Test standard though. He's played, what, 50 odd Tests and his average only now has dropped below 50.

He's proper ****e now, but he was awesome his first 2-3 years in test cricket.

Team for the next 8 years, anyone? Obviously a wild stab in the dark, but will be interesting to see how these turn out. Have included each players' age in 8 years.

Maddinson (26)
Hughes (29)
Khwaja (31)
Ferguson (33)
Smith (29)
M. Marsh (27)
Paine+ (33)
O'Keefe (33)
Siddle (33)
Copeland (32)
Hazelwood (27)

Hilfenhaus at 35 could possibly still be going on, but I doubt it. Also not sure about Marsh, but couldn't think of another middle order bat off the top of my head at 3 in the morning.
Wouldn't rule out Clarke or Watson if they hit the bigtime runs (and stay fit). Plenty of precedent for top bats playing until 37, 38.

Yeah, Clarke's a possibility but given his track record I just can't see Watto staying fit until his late 30s.

Well, it's the bowling that gives Watto trouble. If he gives it up fully a few years down to prolong his career, no reason he can't stay on as a specialist bat if he continues to average around the 50 mark.

Apart from the names that have already been mentioned, Aaron Finch and Matty Wade are surely gonna be playing for Australia.
One can also lock in likes of Hazelwood, James Pattinson, George and Starc to be playing for Oz.
Warner could also be in with a chance to be Hughes opening partner in all forms of the game, if he improves his FC record, Cameron Boyce too would make it if he switches over to NSW.
Also agree with the people who think Clarke will be around and Watto won't be, though the chances of Clarke being around would diminish, if he isn't made the next Australian captain.

#Alex Keath
#Jason Floros
#Moises Henriques
#Chris Lynn
These are some of the names that too could be in the mix in the years to come.

Would be surprised if you still had Test status tbh

Haha, saw Corrin had the last post and could guessed that it would be something to do with losing test status.

I win.

I'm looking forward to the Australia A vs Eng XI more than the Ashes.

Alot of guys have the chance to put their hands up. Would love to see them win. They've gone with 5 specialist bats as well, plus Paine and the Steve's who are both averaging over 50 in first class (early days).

CBF doing the maths but I think he averages over 50 in the Sheffield Shield.
