Cricketweb's 5 most unfairly treated players

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Lol, where did I say he's not put in good performances? Linking me to a 2006 scorecard is ludicrous. I'll link to Irfan Pathan actually doing something in cricket as well.

Fast bowlers have to actually do something more than once every 3 years before being called a gun.

That's a bit different. People don't come on to CW just to slag those players off; they're just not mentioned as often as they should be.

Yeah I meant that.

In terms of which players get mistreated unfairly, name any class player who is out of form.

Currently i think Marcus North.Yes he may not be a great player and is probably extremely lucky to still be in the test side but he isn't the clown that some people make out that he is and there have been plenty of players with worse records than him get less stick over the years.

I agree. He seriously isn't that bad. People just make it out to seem that way, because they know Aus have better batting stock than him.

He's probably the worst Australian batsmen to play his number of tests in the last decade

Not really this decade, but what about Greg Blewett?
Yeah Blewett is a candidate - averaged 34 from 42 test right? I give Blewett a little leeway here because he played in a much more difficult era for batting.

Na, North is better. Averages more and I can only see his average improving from here as well (seeing as though his FC average is over 43).

I think its a bit of a mistake to try and compare North with players in the team from this decade. We have been gifted very good players in recent times. And while there are undoubtedly better options than North at the moment, he would not be too far behind. We just have to accept the Aus team is not the level it once was.

Marcus North probably doesn't deserve a lot of the personal stuff he cops, from me included. Seems a reasonable, nice chap and once he gets past 20-30 is a very good player. He's just not the kind of player we need right now.
If Marcus North had a half decent technique, he'd probably make it past 20 more than once every 5 test matches.

I refuse to accept that the Australian test team has sunk to levels where an average of 37 is good enough. We have players knocking down doors trying to get into the team. It's time to get rid of repetitive failures. Honestly, North wouldn't even make 12th man for a full strength NSW XI. He has a terrible technique early on and his average will only go further south, dragging Australian cricket along with it

Blewett averaged more than North in FC cricket tbf.

Blewett in his sleep a better player than North. Blewett kind of fell away, but he started off by scoring runs against the likes of Ambrose, Walsh, Donald and Pollock in their pomp. I'd be willing to wager that my grandmother has better hope of surviving against those bowlers than North given his technique.

Marcus North probably isn't one of Australia's best six batsmen, but he is definitely one of the best batsmen in Australia.

The "He wouldn't make NSW" argument is flawed because after the stuff Cribb showed me, and talking to Athers about them after he saw them play last summer, those ****s at full strength would deal to several test sides.

Not sure how its flawed just because NSW (as it should be) is extremely strong.

Isn't it telling that North wouldn't even be able to secure a spot in a FC team
