pretty unfair on patel to be introduced after sehwag got his eye in. he should have come on before vettori and ryder tbh. he might have taken a couple out with the extra bounce. plus he has consistently been our best bowler in the sub cont for a while now (most wickets in sl) so he really should be bowling before vettori..

LOL!

NZ seriously need better bowlers. Time to entice Adams or O'Brien back imo.
O'Brien wants to play; he's just.. whipped by an English chick. :p .. *sympathises*
Adams never got picked for Tests despite having an awesome record and justifiably got the ****s and pissed off.

Rahul against Steyn isn't going to be pretty.
Yeah I am actually worried about the entire top order against Steyn. Never rated Gambhir much and he seems to be struggling now even in sub-continental conditions. Sehwag didn't look too impressive against the Australians and we all know about Dravid's recent problems. I am worried India will be 2/3 down for 50 more often than not putting huge pressure on Sachin and VVS. I don't think this NZ series is the ideal preparation and IIRC the gap between the two series is small. I am worried there will be the usual first test capitulation by India before they settle down.

Tbf back in the day Bond, Franklin, Cairns, Tuffey, Martin, Oram and Vettori were all ahead of him.

Adams would walk in now though. Arnel will be the next hard done by seamer.

did u see the couple of times he beat sehwag with drift? that's as close as anybody has gotten to getting sehwag out.
All because Sehwag was practically leaping out of his skin in keenness to punish Jeets poor deliveries.

What happens if NZ bowl 90 overs before the scheduled close of play? Do they have to play till 4.30PM anyway and bowl more overs?

Patel dropping Sehwag was the closest anyone got to getting him out. Aside from that, Bennett dropping him off Williamson would be second.

The scary thing about Sehwag is this is expected from him. People were thinking he'd do this today.

It's becoming run of the mill. The awe of him making dominating tons at 150+ scores at home now no longer have people going :-O

patel putting sehwag in a 'spin'-

17.1
Patel to Sehwag, 2 runs, 84.2 kph, Viru! wide, tossed up, Sehwag throws his arms at it, a slog really! The edge just about clears the infield. I remember he got out to Patel's first over in Napier

19.3
Patel to Dravid, no run, 84.8 kph, good ball, floater outside off, no turn on it, beating the outside edge - rare event

21.2
Patel to Sehwag, FOUR, 81.7 kph, uppish! Oohs and aahs! That was angled across and full, Sehwag cleared the front leg and went at it, a semi leading edge flew smack between cover and mid-off. Not entirely in control of this one

55.4
Patel to Sehwag, no run, 84.2 kph, dropped or saved his face? Sehwag drills this back at Patel who gets the hands in front of his face but never really looked like catching it. The beauty is, even if he had taken the catch, it would have been strictly face-saving
