Clarke was one of my favourite Aus batsman to watch now days he gives Katich a run for his money and i am not talking of SR only.
Still very very watchable in tests. Presuming he actually scores. His last hundred, after getting 100 - absolutely wonderful to watch.

This must be a slow pitch. Hussey's fair creeping along as well.

Why is Hussey saving all his runs for unimportant ODIs and T20s these days? He has averaged in the 30s for the past 3 years in tests, yet has averaged over 40 in the past 3 years for ODIs...

Nah, he's just brilliant at picking up 1's and 2's in ODI's. Which aren't on offer in tests. You saw it a bit in Bangalore 1st innings

Plus in ODI's you don't generally see a working over outside off, which is Hussey's monumental weakness.

50 for Clarke and **** me does he look relieved.

No Jadeja! Yusssssssssssssssssssssssssss! Ashwin! Saurabh Tiwary! Loving it! Looks like all the dead weight has been shed. Zak's and an in form Sreesanth's presence in this line up would make it awesome.

You know what else would make this line-up awesome? Tendulkar. And Sehwag.

It's pretty clear everyone is resting most of their gun players for bigger things ahead.

50 for Hussey too.

McKay should like this. Slower balls are going to be the order of the day here. I hear Hastings has a good slower ball or two as well?

Yeh true, but in a way thats kinda besides the point - he just seems way less fidgety in defence when he is playing ODIs. I think Hussey really needs to adopt a more attacking mindset in tests, like he does in ODIs. Most of the innings he played in the recent tests, he just blocked excessively and never looked comfortable. I don't think thats Hussey's natural game, and I really am clueless as to why he keeps playing that way.

Yeah, lets looks at a line up like this:

Sachin Tendulkar
Virender Sehwag
Gautham Gambhir
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Suresh Raina
Ravi Ashwin
Harbhajan Singh
Zaheer Khan
Praveen Kumar
S Sreesanth

Looks like a proper side without Jadeja in it. I am sure I am not making a lot of sense in response to your point but **** it! I am over the moon seeing Ashwin play instead of Jadeja - WAC!:p

Haha, I get you, I was just pointing out that playing an awesome lineup is not anyone's priority here.

He's just really bad outside off stump now if you work him around there for an extended period. You can't do that in ODIs.

Yeah, good to see the bench strength of sides here. Dhawan, Vijay, Tiwary, Kohli etc won't get a game unless there are multiple injuries or if players are rested like in this case. Awesome to check out the fringe players and a chance to see how they do.

Oh shot Huss.

Whilst it's a bit slow for my tastes, this has been a first-rate partnership.

Easy 2's now. When Clarke isn't trying to run himself out.

Marsh played so well in his last odi for Aus in England batting 6, leave him there. Warner and Paine can open, or Warner Marsh. Need some impetus early, and Clarke sure aint gonna do it until the last over the innings.

Dunno about that. Indian fielding is so leaky that he might get a few boundaries with his inside-out shot for once (which FTR is his only late-game shot he actually seems to play)

Oh, great shot Hussey

EDIT: Shock horror! Michael Clarke sweeps!

First time I've seen him do it in, what, more than a year? Unlike his last attempt he didn't hit this.

EDIT2: :(

I still can't figure out whether these innings with a decent score and a low SR are what Clarke is actually trying to achieve, or not.

No idea. You watch him in the PP overs and it's not for a lack of trying - he just tries to welly it through cover so hard that he can't time it and/or finds fielders!

As for his slowness here, I just have no clue. At all.

I mean, it's not likely he's completely alien to blasting quickfire scores... he used to do it for fun.

78 from 114 is quite decent, IMHO!

If White can take the total to 260+ then Clarke's efforts will look even better.

I suppose that it's a fair effort on such a slow pitch, but it's hardly slower than his efforts on more conducive pitches.

Having said that, he's been better this year. He was terrible in 08/09.

Can't time a thing on this pitch.

Holy hell Clarke! Running between the wickets!

I really wish Clarke had run himself out when he hit the ball back to the ****ing bowler and ran like a ******.

He's becoming the master of being dismissed looking like a dick lately. That would have been a nice addition. Instead he's going to ton up.

Anyway all the commentators and Fox Sports panel saying Hussey is back in form... uhh no. He's been prolific in limited overs cricket over the last two years. He doesn't play lap shots and reverse sweeps in tests ffs. It's not the same game.

He was out of form in the England series TBF. Had a shocker.

White isn't going for it either. What's going on here? Someone get out and get Smith in. He'll smash them around.
