I'm listening so I can hear talkback callers name teams. Looking forward to the calls for Sinclair, Sherlock, some random young dude (probably missed that boat now Kane's in there though).

Deaker's busy doing a complete 180 on $BW anyway.

^ Mills has improved a lot over the last few years which isn't reflected in his stats. Afridi on the other hand seems to have been in decline.

There is no evidence to suggest that we're better than Zimbabwe really. We just lost 4-0 to Bangladesh and were thoroughly outplayed. Zimbabwe on the other hand are doing pretty decent vs South Africa in South Africa. SA are a much tougher side and yet the Zimbabwe batting has managed to post some pretty sizable totals. In spin friendly conditions their bowling will be a handfull. I honestly 100% believe Zimbabwe will perform better than we did. They will win at least 1 game. Bangladesh did play really well, but really we lost because of our own inept batting. We should be streets ahead of them.

NZ had better turn things around fast. They're a bit of a laughing stock at the moment.
Erm what?

They're being well and truly hammered.

They are getting beaten comfortably, BUT they're playing SA who are widely regarded as one of the top sides in the world. Zimbabwe for a side ranked below Bangladesh - they've made some good totals with the bat.

Not without competent seamers!!, plus can their batsman handle genuine pace? it didn't look that way when they played England at home.
Not to drag this thread further into the off-topic gutter, but I can't resist getting fired up right here.

Just BRING IT ON! WI turf or BD turf...we have a few guns who can handle the breezy pace pretty well and since WI lacks an express...I don't see why we can't pull off a series win against them :)!

I am. And I believe. And I believe as much as the players believe which is of huge importance because up until this recent series victory, it was only players like Mortaza, Tamim, Shakib, Razzak, Rafique and such handful good performers who believed a win is always possible and go into the match positively, all else not as much.

Well...consistency is always the key and after the grueling month long crash-course camp that the team went through with the new fielding and bowling coach and Siddons attending to the the batsmen's need (8AM to 4PM) everyday...with even the healing Tamim finally been allowed to bat for four hours.

Most important thing is, just like when in 06-07 Dav Watmore gave them the taste of stringing success against teams like Kenya and ZImbabwe together, a time when the aforementioned players started to get their self belief, now the same is happening with the newer players at a bigger stage.

Greatest of all is the resources being offered to the players. Even though we have a tyrant businessman as the president of our cricket board, the CEO and everyone else have done everything in their powers to make sure the coaches demands and requirements for the team an absolute necessary.

We might be small, but in no way are we minnows anymore when it comes to ODIs. We may have been weak, but we are stronger by the day. Its now just a matter of further training and discipline.

In Julian Fountain and Ian Pont we have 2 world class coaches who have already shown us in a few weeks they have been here, where this team can go with absolute proper training.

So there is definitely more reasons to be positive. If we lose, e work on the weaknesses and we hit back harder from here on. If we win, we set higher targets.

The players know the fans and the nation are backing them tremendously. Its now just a matter of time until success becomes a habit :)!

I can't simply wait until the world cup is here next year :D!!!!!

Nice to hear all of that. And I wish you all the best.

By the way. Is cricket the most popular sport in bangladesh?

Well that would be stretching it in the sense that there are other teams too who can challenge the Aussies like India and South Africa. But I must say that bringing back the banned players would mean that Pakistan have the best ODI bowling attack in the world.
India bowling is too crappy to challenge AUS.

While SA still have alot of work to do, since they consistently seem to be chocking in big tournaments. Although on paper they are always strong.

PAK if they get a full-strenght ODI team with the banned players back:

Butt/Hafeez
K Akmal
Younis
MoYou
S Malik/Alam
U Akmal
Afridi
Aamir
Gul
Akhtar
Ajmal

12th man: Razzaq
Their is enough potential individual brilliance in that team to upset AUS on a given day.

Lost 5-0 to them a few months ago if memory serves right. India for all their weaknesses, atleast do better than that. There is a big gap between Pakistan's on-paper strength and actual performances.

All sorts of trauma on tour caused that obviously.

When PAK where playing well as unit without controversey they almost beat AUS in the 2009 Champions trophy, plus of course they won the 2009 T20 WC.

India full-strenght ODI side where totally outplayed by AUS in IND 09 (with AUS missing its entire 1st choice attack), mainly because their bowling was crap. That glaring deficiency is why they will fall short of winning the WC next year.

LOL. I repeat, when was the last time Pakistan actually translated all this "potential" into performance? Don't give me all these excuses about controversy, Pakistan and controversy are synonymous. India also beat a full-strength Australia side in Australia in 2008, FYI.

"Totally outplayed" by a massive 4 runs in Hyderabad BTW, which ultimately made the difference to the result of the series.

Well to be fair Pakistan ODI side is not so bad. I think the last time they met India they gave them tough competition in the Asia Cup (although Pakistan still lost).

And Australia tour was just plain bad in terms of all the politics and controversy inside the dressing room. I mean you are right that Pakistan cricket team dressing rooms have always been filled with controversy but the Australian tour was far above average in that respect.

The upcoming series against South Africa would reveal a lot about Pakistan as to how they fare after the tainted trio's departure.

And I too personally agree with Aussie that in the upcoming world cup it is the bowling attacks that will make the difference. I hope that I don't end up with egg on my face like Vettori in the recent NZ-Bang series :)

Indian bowlers are perennially under-rated. FTR, in the series that Aussie is referring to, it was the batsmen and not the bowlers that let India down.

As the other poster righfully highlighted, You living in your own world, if are going to equate past controversies to what what has been going in with PAK on that AUS tour.

IND beating AUS in the 08 VB series is irelevant. Since we are talking about AUS record in IND, in which they had won all ODI series in IND since 1998 & the WC is going to played in India.

India where @ full-strenght in that 2009 ODI series. AUS had injuries left right & centre & still managed to win that ODI series, basically because INDs bowling where so crap. Just like the 2003 TVS Cup.

Haha, I love how it is irrelevant when Australia lost in 2008 but totally relevant that they won the bloody TVS Cup in 2003 with probably only two or three players from both sides at the time who are still playing.

And FFS, did you actually watch that 2009 series? It was the batting that let India down, not the bowling. Same in the recent tri-series that they lost in SL.
