Are you kidding? I guess maybe Zim Cricket is THE only cricket that you have seen being played. There is some gap between Zimbabwe and Pakistan. I will concede that in some things they are better (like having untainted cricketers playing for them). However even after receiving such a heavy blow like the exclusion of Amir, Asif and Salman Butt, Pakistan did give England a bit of competition.
And congratulations Bangladesh
On a side note I am wondering whether the Bangladesh has become a better team or is it that New Zealand have become a terrible side??? I could imagine going down 3-1 or 3-2 (if it was a 5 match series) but 4-0. This is quite pathetic really.

Let Pakistan get back Yousuf, Malik and Rana Naved. If they can get back Amir, Asif and Butt, they'll get some sides ****ting in their pants. A line up of K. Akmal, Butt, Younus, Yousuf, Malik, U. Akmal, Afridi, Razzaq, Shoaib / Gul, Amir and Ajmal is a handful. Rana Naved and Asif will give that extra cover on a swinging condition as well. Even if you take off Butt, Amir and Asif, there are Yasir Hamid in the top order and naved ul Hasan and Umar Gul to make up the fast bowling attack. I don't know how Misbah-ul-Haq comes to this equation, but might play over Malik. People writing off Pakistan for the WC are tricking themselves IMO.

To make this more relevant to the thread, Pakistan's batting line-up rivals NZ, but with a much worse lower order.

Afridi and Razzaq easily ****s all over what NZ have in their lower order. AMir and Naved are also servicable. Hitting of above two are in a different galaxy when compared to that of Oram, N. McCullum or Vettori. And on the other hand, Yousuf, Younus and Malik are lot better than what you have in your top order too. Yes, there has been ebtting issues and underperforming issues. But when Pakistan clicks it hits like a hurricane.
Hey this is Niaz from Dhaka, Bangladesh. It's good to see that people are starting to believe more in Bangladesh cricket. Actually this team has been playing good one day cricket for quite some time now and people in Bangladesh were quietly confident that a series win was round the corner. But of course, no one expected a 4-0 whitewash, so hats off to the team for that.
We have been quite unlucky on a number of occasions in the last 18 months or so. The loss against Sri Lanka in the tri series final last year in Dhaka was very demoralizing. If we had won that series then, I believe that it would have given us the confidence to win more one day matches in the period in between.
Also the loss against England in the 2nd ODI in Dhaka was very unlucky too. Mahmudullah had Morgan out lbw not once but twice, but the umpire refused to budge. And Morgan turned out to be the match winner on that occasion.
So, there have been a number of occasions where we could have 'turned the corner' but luck was not on our side.
And in the 1st match of the series, when Taylor and Vettori were going well, I was sitting in the stands and thinking 'Oh no, not again'. But the team showed some good mental strength and managed to pull off a victory.
However, the most important match for Bangladesh was the 3rd ODI of the series. During NZ's last tour in 2008, we won the 1st match and in the 2nd ODI had them 112/7 before a certain Jacob Oram took the score to 212 and the NZ bowlers ripped through our top order which resulted in an all too familiar batting collapse.
Again, in this series, in the 3rd ODI we had them 7 down for 100 odd runs and this time it was Ross Taylor and Kyle Mills who started beating the crap out of our bowlers. And again while sitting in the stands, memories of that 2nd ODI against NZ in 2008 came back. But, this is a Bangladesh squad which has grown stronger mentally and we managed to bundle them out for 173 before chasing down the total with ease. (and it was really wonderful to see Nafees back to his old self)
Anyways, we are just glad that we have managed to hit form right before the World Cup. This should really boost our confidence and I believe that this side is good enough to reach the Quarter Finals of this WC.
On the debate on WI, NZ, Pak and Bangladesh, well the thing is I really don't know about Pakistan. If they are on song, then I don't think we stand much of a chance against them even without Asif, Aamer and Butt. (Yes I have seen how bad they played against England, but even after that I think they are a better side than Bangladesh)
But if the WI plays a series in Bangladesh now, I would say that Bangladesh would be the favorites to take the series. There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to beat them in our home conditions. In fact most of the sides from outside the sub-continent (including Australia) would have to play very very good cricket against Bangladesh at home to get a win.

Indeed. PAK if they get certain banned players back, i see the as the only team who can stop AUS from making it 4 WC wins in a row.

Wow Migara, even though I am living in Pakistan but I had forgotten that we really do have a lot of firepower left in our cricket....... and you are so right if Butt, Amir, and Asif make a comeback along with Gul, Afridi, Ajmal, and Shoaib Akhtar, i don't see any other bowling attack who can challenge Pakistan.
yeah.....I think New Zealand top order must be below Bangladesh these days. The Pakistan top order has always been fragile but they will beat New Zealand batting any day. And people talking about Kyle Mills being a better hitter than Afridi must be really out of their mind.

Well that would be stretching it in the sense that there are other teams too who can challenge the Aussies like India and South Africa. But I must say that bringing back the banned players would mean that Pakistan have the best ODI bowling attack in the world.

I think Ray Jennings can do a fine job as a coach if he is ready to coach this team. Right now this New Zealand unit needs a good coach so Vettori can concentrate on his main job.

A few points:
1) I'd still back this New Zealand side to demolish Bangladesh at home. We've played them ****loads over the past few years at home and they've never come close.
2) If I had to choose someone from Mills or Afridi to bat for my life in an ODI, I'd choose Mills. Afridi comes off once in a blue moon, but Mills gets consistent quick 20s and 30s.
3) The New Zealand top order is not worse than Bangladesh. In the subcontinent they are the better ODI side, and I'd back them to defeat many teams there. We are simply a dire subcontinental batting side, and definitely miss Fleming, Styris and Astle there, because they are very good against spin.
4) Pakistan will never get those bowlers back Migara.
