Is Laxman a great batsman?

eng vs. Pak was such a poor series bar one match. **** batsman hanging their bat out and getting caught behind to pretty good fast bowling may be a nice novelty, but it wears out after the first match.

The best pitches in the world to get early reverse swing too. Fast bowlers outside Asia have no ****ing idea about these pitches' advantages and suck at using them, thats all.
Before Sarfraz Nawaz famous spell of reverse-swing @ MCG 1979/80. In test history in tradition seamer friendly English & SA, NZ condtions. Or traditional bouncy AUS, WI, SA condtions. Reverse-swing hardly ever occured outside the sub-continent.

Enough fast bowlers outside the sub-continent since 1980 have learnt to reverse-swing the ball when they went to the SC to bowl. But many more have not been able to learn this art as well.

It would be nice to get some real statistics supporting such a hypothesis instead of simply making stuff up.
Making up stuff?. Ha.

Well if what i said in that post aren't known facts of test history. Then i really can't help you.

I'm not even sure myself. I just responed to question asked in the post. But now that i look back i'm not sure how posters Shri point is relevant to my response to this post:

quote said:
I don't Understand how pitches which are turning, have variable bounce can be considered as flat wickets?

The last i checked Spinners were also a part of the game. If the track does not suit pacers more than spinners it does not automatically become FLAT.

I also don't understand how people make an assumption that only non-subcontinent pitches are pace friendly and If a player does not do well there he is automatically considered an average player.
Australian pitches are the flattest around.

Didn't realize that the hallmark of being a great batsman involves scoring bountiful runs against crap opposition and cashing in on flat tracks which seems like the general consensus on here. It certainly explains why Tendulkar is rated as highly on here as he is and why players like Laxman will perennially be underrated.

Give me a guy who stands up and wins games when his team needs him most over a guy who cashes in when the rest of his side could also have done the same.

Can anybody define what is really meant by being flat pitches? i thought flat pitches were meant to offer no assistance to the bowlers. If that is the case then how come Australian pitches are flat?

Because Australian pitches don't offer a great deal of assistance to bowlers.

I was following the Australia Pakistan series earlier this year and I thought the Aussie pitches were quite sporting. Especially the Sydney pitch was nowhere near being flat. Even bowlers like Sami were finding a lot of movement off the pitch. And that is saying something.

TEC back to 2004 ways it seems.

Oh well, was fun having him not discard every run Sachin has ever scored while it lasted.

Whatever it takes!!!
It just makes them feel better.

There were two results in the two matches, two out of three matches had a result in Sri Lanka. When South Africa toured India there were two results out of two matches.

But none of those results suit the poster.. Hence................
