1st Odi today. Do u think Zim can make any difference? I see they are capable of an upset here. Gud for Cricket that Zim & B.Desh are becoming really competitive.

Fancy Zim will put up a decent fight with the bat given their top order and the weaknesses in the RSA attack but their bowling attack was exposed in the 20/20s and in 50 overs, the gulf in class will be even more evident. If today's game is played on the same wicket as the 20/20 then South Africa should be looking at 350+ if they bat first.

Masakadza's ODI bowling figures
Miller's handy at the death, great 50 before being done in by a good yorker,

Did you see the straight drive before that yorker? Was awesome. Someone in this forum called him Lance Klusener's replacement a few days back. Lets see if he lives up to the billing.

Ingram WAG. Delighted for him although he'll probably have to make way for Kallis when he comes back.

These new guys are putting a lot of pressure on Duminy and Morkel. If they can find some form, it'd be a terrific middle order.

Albie looks sharper than he's been in a while. A couple of the deliveries he bowled in the CCL were incredible.

He's been around quite a while already tbh. Played all his Tests at the age of 18/19.

Most of this Zimbabwe team, with the obvious exception of Flower, are still under 25. Plenty of potential there.

Colin Ingram is the first South African to score a 100 on debut, becoming only the 6th player to do so and Ingram is second only to Desmond Haynes for most runs on ODI debut. Haynes scored 148 against Aus in 1978.

Brendan Taylor’s 145* made him only the 9th player to carry his bat throughout a ODI innings and Taylor’s 145 is the highest score by a player carrying his bat. Taylor overtakes Nick Knight’s 125 against Pakistan in 1996.

Hashim Amla’s ODI average of 56.96 makes him presently the second best ODI batsman of all-time by average (minimum qualification 1000 runs). Ryan ten Doeschate still tops the chart with an imperious average of 68.55.

Next game is played on a ground (Senwes Park) where last time Zimbabwe played there, South Africa put 400 on them. Best of luck if RSA bat first again...

You know all is not well with the RSA attack if Albie is the stand out bowler. Langeveldt is a tricky one as whenever he looks just about ready for the knacker’s yard he performs but the attack yesterday was too samey even with a left arm quick. With Miller taking over the mantle from Albie of being the Proteas PP batsman and finisher, could be worth getting Tahir in (when qualified) as the second spinner with a view to the WC.
