For a bloke who's captaining a team which to most people isn't a conclusive #1, MS has a great Test record as captain. No real complaints with him when judging his stint in it's entirety.

Yeah, he gets results; you can't complain. It's probably more a credit to his man-management than his tactics though because he definitely sets some outrageously **** fields at times.

It's also a credit to the fact that the batting line up he leads is absolutely stupidly difficult to bowl out twice in a test match.

Odd that Australia, according to the rankings, are now the worst they've ever been... but these last two test matches have been awesome to watch, both featuring individual brilliance (from the usual suspects), as well as 5th-day results. And not Eng-SA plod about till tea on 5th day then light a massive ****ing fire results, either.

While I wanted Australia to win, and going 2-0 down is a real sadmaker, going into the Ashes ranked below England seems about right.

Very true.

He has had the full backing of Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman, so that has helped him ease into the job. All good leaders of men.

He does very well with what he has got. Gets a few things wrong every now and then, and is not a good test batsman by any means...but by and large, he deserves credit.

Sure, he is capable of setting bad fields some of the times but I don't think he generally gets the same level of positive scrutiny when he pulls off something good as a captain either, which he does do a lot. Like I said on the whole I'm not complaining when he has his side playing this well.
