*Official* Australia in India 2010

Yeh well isn't it time to prepare for the future? We are 5th ranked so what does Australia have to lose?

I reckon the selectors should take some risks for once, and try out a team like the following:

Watson
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
Khawaja
North
Haddin/Paine
Smith
Johnson
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger

And if people are so opposed to replacing Hauritz (which I really don't know why, because he is doing nothing for the team), then replace North with Smith and keep Hauritz.

Perfect with that North change mate.

We should form a break away panel.

My motto leading up to November 25 - 'the risk is not to make changes'.

What I'm opposed to is replacing one spinner, who has, yes, been utterly mediocre in these conditions, with a spinner who could only be worse. As PEWS said you have to play your best players in your side at the time, ESPECIALLY for the Ashes. The simple fact is Hauritz is a better spinner than Smith right now and hence if you pick a spinner you pick Hauritz as that spinner right now, not Smith.

Having said that I'm not entirely opposed to Smith playing as a batsman. An average of 56 is extremely enticing any way you cut it.

Another Man of the Series for Tendulkar.

Just another day in the office for the great man.

"It's a team effort yahhhh"

What a guy. What a ****in guy!

How many "Man of the Series" awards does he have against Australia? 3 or 4 right?

I wouldn't replace Hauritz for the Ashes. I mean in the long term after the Ashes.

Thing is this, Smith despite a 7-fer still averages about fifty as a bowler. Hauritz got beaten up against India in India, but who wouldn't? If Smith really looks like a potential word-class spinner, He needs to develop it until he starts performing consistently at a lower level before being selected for the team. As long as Hauritz is able to perform at a decent level against most teams, He should stay.

It's never time to "prepare for the future". Picking the best team for each and every Test FTW.

That said, I actually don't think Hussey should be in the team anymore. My resistance to the anti-Hussey crowd is only due to my frustration at the fact that his age is repeatedly brought up when I think it should be entirely irrelevant. I don't care if he's 5 or 95; his performances have become unacceptable and it's time to say goodbye.

I've also always thought Hauritz to be well below Test standard but as a pure bowler he's done a lot more than Smith. Neither have done anything in Shield cricket (barring one game from Smith which he averages 70+ without) but Hauritz has put in some surprisingly serviceable Test performances. If you want to play four quicks on a lot of surfaces I can really get behind that but playing Smith as a bowler is something I really can't support, even if it'd satisfy my dream of getting rid of the filthy pie-chucker.

First white wash in 28 years. Well done Aussie - you played well during last 28 years to maintain that superb record of yours.
White wash in a two match series pretty lame compared to three, four, or five match series.

Yeh but he has only played 16 first class matches. I think he is pretty decent at the moment to be honest. And he will only get better, but that takes match practice. As it is anyway, Hauritz averages 43 in FC cricket.

It's not entirely irrelevant, tbh. If it was Clarke or Watson then they could be keeping him with the fact that "just a temporary form slump and they'll come good again soon". But it's less likely at 35.

Well another disappointing series for Australia.

The few positives for me were

- Hilfenhaus
- Ponting
- Watto
- Johnson (semi-decent)

Otherwise, very disappointed that we lose another test match
