It wasn't a **** fight though.

Anyway, ODis are going to be amazingly weird. So many young players. Almost unrecognisable teams.

There was similar complaints a while back when the Aussie team took to resting Ponting and Gilly during ODI series (normally only for a game or two, not whole series) from people. It's a tricky one, because you definitely need to let your key guys get rests through the year, especially someone like Tendulkar, but at the same time it sucks for the people who maybe can't get to the cricket that often and dream of seeing a Sachin or Gilly in the flesh - especially if they've been asked to purchase tickets before the rest is announced.
It used to annoy me a lot, but once Dhoni was actually rested from a Test series due to burnout/potential burnout/whatever, I officially became a massive fan of resting players from ODIs.

Whatever it takes!!!
Can't believe Dhoni is not being given a rest, though.. He should really ask for time off and get them to have Raina or Yuvraj leading this side...

Yeah I guess because he's captain and we're close to a WC he's playing.

He is overworked though.

**** that was woeful when he did that.

Probably the only time I was fully fledged angry at Dhoni. Generally trust him with most decisions.

He wasn't captain then I believe. I imagine he'd never do that as captain.

he should rest from the ODIs against NZ.. Think they didn't rest him simply because they didn't want the side to be captained by Yuvraj. What they should have done is dropped Yuvi, get Dravid for a one series only deal and made him captain and have him bat 4...

Does anyone know why Ponting is being rested for the ODIs?

2 months rest, 2 tests, more rest lol...

Yeah, the issue was that he was captain of the ODI team and not the Test team, so he felt it was his responsibility to take the ODI team more seriously at the time, and not rest from the Asia Cup. It really pissed me off though regardless.

Did Karthik have a bad series with the gloves against SL in SL?

I think I remember that happening.

Didn't get to watch any of that series live, which was shattering.

@ DeusEx - Because he always smashes it first match back from a decent rest - Gabba here comes Ricky!

Seriously, probably because he doesn't fancy playing them and as captain of the team, with the amount of important matches coming up (Ashes, WC), why would you make him play in another forgettable ODI series?

Yeah, I believe he actually got dropped for Patel in the last Test; so bad he was.

The jinxing is annoying. Not saying it should stop, because people should feel free to express themselves however they like in this thread, but fmd already...

Seriously, seriously think Australia are ahead at this stage. If they had Dougeh instead of George, I would have them as firm favourites.

Was thinking of stopping since Got spin, Social etc didn't like it.

But now that Pasag doesn't like it, I will increase my anti-jinxing posting tenfold.
