*Official* Australia in India 2010

A lead of 185 runs with three wickets to go on a track with a highest successful chase of 194 against a weaker batting line-up than one which collapsed to 122-8 on a better wicket in the previous text match. I think it's pretty clear which team is in the driving seat. Played, Australia.

I'm just stating the facts, not jinxing.
I hope, but I don't see it. It's Ojha and Bhajji that really turned the screws and we do not have the spinners to compare to them. They went for peanuts and took 5 wickets too. Katich and Watson were going great against the pacers until they came.

and to talk of a team which has never been able to defend a total of 150+ in the past decade

I dunno man, you do complain about Cricket Chat a lot.

Anyway, it only became annoying when India started winning on that last day. Before that no one card.

Plus I'm not anti-jinxing now, bit of boy who cried wolf about my posts, but I believe Australia are in with a real shout.

Other than Sachin and Sehwag, what do we have? An out of form and near the end Dravid, noobish batsmen like Vijay, Raina, a mediocre test batsman in Dhoni and a debutant in Pujara.

The lack of Laxman and Gambhir is important, even if Vijay did bat well in the 1st dig.
It's because Cricket Chat, while having some good moments, is mostly pretty terrible. The only good discussions are on relatively neutral issues or domestic debates on ones on team selection etc.

I have no issue with realistic predictions. It's just the overwhelmingly pessimistic predictions in order to save face that annoy me (Which come from either side)

Cricket Chat vastly under-rated IMO.

Actually, vastly over-criticised might be a better way of putting it.
Yeah, Massive AWTA. Was pretty shocked when people kept telling 'You won't last long here, mate, CC is the gutter of the world etc.', when I first joined, because I actually love CC

See, I find this wrong because CC was way worse back in the day. Especially tour threads. India vs. Pakistan was god awful, and India vs. Australia 2007/8 was awful too.

People (including mods to an extent) complained about the debates between Burgey, Ikki, DeusEx, Prince and myself.

But we were debating cricket, and barring one outburst from Burgey, it was civil. Yet people seem to want us to stop that sort of posting.

It was a cricket discussion. Sure it may have gone on too long, but there is a lot worse on CC.

The discussion before was clearly going around in circles and based upon nationality rather than actual cricket discussion.

India v Australia: Dhawan called up, Tendulkar rested for Australia one-dayers | Cricket News | India v Australia | Cricinfo.com

Squad MS Dhoni (capt & wk), M Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, R Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Vinay Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma
**** **** ****, Really wanted to see Tendy play.

Better to not risk getting him injured for real cricket anyway, I reckon.

. While Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Pragyan Ojha have been rested, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma have been left out due to minor injuries.
wont be so interesting series

one way your 2nd point is really justifiable

bt man , i already booked my ticket for 3rd odi

now its all waste of many seeing so many players rest, where as my first intention was to watch sachin play

Whatever it takes!!!
wont be so interesting series
Gonna love seeing Dhawan and Vijay open.. Kohli at 3, Yuvi at 4, Dhoni at 5 and Raina at 6 is great... hate that Ravi Jadeja is still there but perhaps Ashwin will get a shot at 8 and PK, Nehra and Vinay might just make it a batting order worth watching. :)

There was similar complaints a while back when the Aussie team took to resting Ponting and Gilly during ODI series (normally only for a game or two, not whole series) from people. It's a tricky one, because you definitely need to let your key guys get rests through the year, especially someone like Tendulkar, but at the same time it sucks for the people who maybe can't get to the cricket that often and dream of seeing a Sachin or Gilly in the flesh - especially if they've been asked to purchase tickets before the rest is announced.
