*Official* Australia in India 2010

Vijay should pick up his scoring rate. This is abysmal or perhaps we shouldn't expext everyone to play like Sehwag?

But if these two bat on like this till end of day, then there will be only two possible results from there. India win and a draw. The match needs a wicket or two to make things interesting again. I like it more, when all three results are a possibility at least till lunch on day 4.

Yeah India needs to step on the scoring: about 4 runs per over from here on in. They have half a chance of putting some pressure if there is some turn on day 4/5. Say they get a lead of around 70 by lunch tomorrow. They will have about three sessions to bowl out Australia leaving them with a target of around 170 in two sessions. Of course given they are one up they are probably quite happy with a draw.
But i think India would be better off getting a lead of about 200 to 250 few overs after tea tomorrow and then going all out in the last session + the final day to get the aussies to play on the 5th day when the pitch is at its worst .

I know; I was more in reply to the idea that playing for a draw is somehow anti cricket and that it is somehow easy or unskillful to bat time and accumilate against Australia.
I think if India intentionally go for the draw, it allows Australia to go away pretty happy really. A 1-0 nil loss to the number one side at home, where the loss was marginal at best.

If I was India, I would want be wanting to dominate by crushing the Aussies 2-0, and showing them who the no.1 team is. A draw almost shows they are scared.

Yeah AWTA. But they're just looking at batting once from here, surely. Bat til between lunch and tea tomorrow, pile it on, lead by nearly a couple of hundred and see if they can bowl us out.

Sounds a plan to me. The cash in time in their innings hasn't arrived yet tbh.

Edit: Ooh shot! Do love a good back foot drive. Watto's first couple of balls always look like he's about an 80 year old these days.

The Aussies are so pre-occupied with getting Sehwag out that the other openers hurt them badly.

Last time Gambhir hurt them big and this time Vijay is doing it in this match.

I think this is the perfect time to get some quick runs in.

Vijay is the one i think who needs to get a move on.

Oh at last

Indians have gotta be careful here. Big partnership obv and SRT still out there but if they fall in a heap 50 short like in Mohali trying to slog don't think anyone will be much impressed.

I don't get this from India, they trail by only 161 runs with 2 wickets down, with two completely set batsmen, yet they are dropping the run rate?

Poor stuff
Playing for a draw 3 days in is lame.
Yawn this is starting to become a drag. Start playing for a result ffs

They aren't playing for a draw yet

FFS, if you want boundaries every ball go watch T20. Otherwise they're getting runs where they can, but if its a good ball you gotta pay respect.

Yeah a bit confused by the "playing for a draw" comments. They're scoring at 3.5RPO, not exactly snail paced.

Mitch!

Huge stuff.

Worst ball to get 3rd ball of your test career though. Will be interested to see Hawkeye too.
