Hmm. George, on first viewing, looks up/down there with McKay in the "How the bloomin' flip did he get a gig for Oz?" stakes.

I would bring North on for an over or two. He's had a great day with the bat, took a nice catch and got Sachin out last Test.

After North has been given a try, bring back Hilf for the end of the day.

From what I'd seen last season I couldnt believe he made the NZ trip earlier this year, at least he's used to bowling at Adelaide and has decent experience and success at bowling on flat decks. Probably a bit nervous too. Never struck me a confident type, like Siddle when he debuted in India.

tbh, he hasn't taken too many on Adelaide even. Most of his wickets for SA have been in Tas on a couple of very helpful decks. Bit gun-barrel straight when there's no green in the deck.

He just bowled the worst maiden I've seen for a while. Looks a bit like Andy Murray at first glance.

Hope he gets past the nerves and bowls well in the match.

Edit: Incredible backfoot drive by Tendulkar.

Indeed. We have some decent talent, but not amazing talent in shield cricket. Starc is hugely raw also, pity Siddle is just coming back from injury, he always looked impressive to me. The young guys they picking like Pattinson, Starc and George are all so raw and havent had that much FC experience yet. I tell you who does impress me in shield cricket, Nathan Rimmington, has something about him.

haha, say what you want about Ponting but he always wants to be in the oppo's face in the big moments.

Even without the class act of Tendulkar showing up Hauritz for most of that over, that was kind of bin save for the dropped chance.

Nathan Rimmington in shield cricket? He has barely played any first class games or taken any wickets in them. He is actually a pretty tiny bloke so his lack of bounce will deafinitely hurt him in the longer format but he does swing the ball.

The pace bowling stocks in Australia are fine IMO. People on here need to stop being so judgemental on George and ruling him out after he has bowled 5 overs that were okay. He has the height, a nice action and a good front arm which creates bounce. You can't just bag a young bowler out for bowling a bit wayward in his debut match when he is going to be very nervous, not to mention the quality batting line-up at hand and the conditons. Accuracy isn't a problem either for George, his economy rate of 2 runs per over in first class cricket back this up. When coaches, players and others have things to say about George it's that he is pretty damm accurate, sometimes he starts off a little bit wayward but he always settles into a rhythm. Outswinger is coming along nicely to from reports.

Hauritz bowling some more wide balls outside off again 8-)
