Ponting just went past Hayden and Sobers and when he gets to 66, he will pass Viv Richards to become the 3rd highest run scorer vs India

...that just leaves Javed Miandad and Clive Lloyd above him, both of which played 3 more tests than him ;)

First time I have seen North get in to double figures.
Has failed to reach 10 in 16/30 test innings IIRC

One of the worst starters I've ever seen but excellent stroke maker on the odd occasion he does get in

Haha at Ravi saying the run out attempt missed by "not much". Had there been 10-15 stumps there I would have been inclined to agree, but it would probably still have missed.

Not including the double made against Pak (which could have been rigged), if Ponting can get a century here, it will be his first fluent one in 27 innings (since the 150 in the first ashes test).

Once he got past about 40 the double in Hobart was very, very fluent. But true, could've been rigged.

Fluent? Well some shots were awesome but it's been far from fluent.

yeh, the more you think about it, the more it seems likely it would have been. Aamer dropping the first catch (a sitter) etc.

A great batsman gets an early let off and then makes the opponent pay on a flat track I am sure its never happened before.8-)

Not just the let off. The middle session of Day 1 is what I'm looking at. And the run outs, too, obv.

No doubt Ponting is not quite the batsman he once was, but he still remains a wonderful batsman. He could easily play for years if his ego would let him drop down the order.

True, but considering that the frauds behind the whole scandal explicitly said the Sydney test and many (or did he use the word all others??) others have been fixed, I wouldn't be suprised at all.

But anyway, this is India vs Australia, so lets drop the topic for now.

Asif bowled a beautiful spell post lunch was unlucky not to get an edge then Yusuf had his typical captaincy moment and employed a strategy that backfired, what about Ponting bowling Watson and North with the field set back with opponent needing 30 to win?

agreed, though there are lot of flaws in the Sydney test argument which goes against what Majeed says anyways thats for a different thread.
