*Official* Australia in India 2010

Thinking about it, I don't think Australia have beaten us ever since the Sydney test. Quite a watershed test that, in hindsight.
We haven't, and yes, it was. Massive watershed, as I said earlier on in this thread. Not just the disappearance or dip in form of Gilchrist, Hayden and Hussey in the post McWarne era, but had a really powerful mental impact as well. Definitely changed Ponting at least.

Come beat us at home first eh
this non-losing streak started in perth, dude.

australia should really be able to beat this indian team. look at the bowlers. zaheer khan? ishant sharma? an off color harbhajan? ojah? there is nothing world class about these leather flingers. ponting, katich, hussey and clark should hit the crap out of them and post a 650+ score in the next test; and then bury india in an innings defeat. it will be good for the rivalry and it will be good for india in the long run. because, mark my words, when our champion batsmen leave in the next two years or so india will become a minnow and they will remain there for a decade at least. everyone is hiding behind our middle order and sehwag. this winning position india enjoys wont last long after they are gone because our bowling resources are pathetic and no one is worried about it. someone should give us a glimpse of the future and scare us enough. ponting's team is the best bet to do that. also, since this is ponting's last time in india, I would like him to go back with a bit of a smile.

We should and we were this close to doing so. But what's done is done. I honestly have no idea how we'll go in Bangalore. We might get slaughtered as we did last time round coming off a demoralizing non-victory, or Ponting/Clarke might wake the **** up and actually give our pacers, who should continue to be excellent, something to work with. At the end of the day, defending 216 against that batting lineup on a track that wasn't all that bad was a big ask.

You did. But I quoted you anyway because I remembered your words and wanted to use them ;)
While I do too wish we could smash India around for a while, there's definitely some selection issues when it comes to our batting that is preventing us from progressing.

Nothing class about Zaheer Khan's bowling is there? Have you actually ever seen him bowl before? The guy is bowling beautifully and not to mention, he is playing in home conditions to.

Harbhajan is the same. He is a good bowler and Australia have struggled against him in the past especially in Indian conditions where he poses a big threat.

Ohja isn't the worst either.

I want Cam White. One of the batsmen who actually has a pair of plums and bats well when needed. Seriously, as over the top as this sounds, I'm not even sure I'd keep Clarke. Aussie captains have been examples for others to follow...Clarke just isn't consistent enough IMO - especially when the going gets tough.

Does anyone even rate him as a VC?

He needs to get a kick along but definitely been much more consistent over the last two years than anyone bar Katich. And as such the second or third most secure in the batting order after Katich and Watto.

I'd drop Ponting before Clarke, long before.

Aus captain - another story, but as a batsman?

And Cameron White - no, tbh. Will get exposed at test level.

Have a watch of him in FC cricket. White is the opposite of this. He doesn't bat well when needed at all.

I don't aye so you're probably right. But in the T20s or ODIs he keeps delivering when needed. That's certainly colouring my perception of him. Am just so tired of seeing this team collapse to low scores against bowlers who really aren't the greatest around.

Yeah don't know about minnow. But certainly they'll have a nasty transition period.
Yeah. With Laxman, Sachin and Dravid all set to retire within a year or two of each other, things won't be too good. Although I believe it's best that Dravid retires after the SA tour (not saying he's underperforming) and allows someone else to cement their place in the side and gain exposure to international cricket. Rather they go one by one then all three at a time like what happened to Australia. Really hope the selectors stick with Vijay and Pujara. Especially Pujara, he's been amazing at the domestic level.

In 2008/9 Hussey was our standout ODI player.

You wouldn't have thought it watching test matches, at all.
