I don't get wanting to play keepers as specialist batsman. If his batting is better than Haddin's than by all means get him...but bring in Hughes, Khawaja, Klinger or Smith in place of North, don't play 2 keepers....
Think it's a sign of the desperation over North that it's being considered at all.

Zaheer in for Mithun and Sharma only bowling 7 overs will always help that. Just need to get Sree in for the next Test and the attack will actually be Test standard. :p
Yeah. Anyone other than Sharma ought to do the trick. Even Praveen Kumar could help make early in roads since conventional swing bowling is effective against Australia.

But after the initial overs ,Praveen Kumar would be pretty useless .

Well you can look at it a couple of ways with Paine - either that he's been secretly awesome his entire career and only hit one First Class hundred because he didn't feel like hitting any more, or that a mediocre-performing (albeit technically sound and very talented) Shield batsman performing in conditions that really don't suit him in a position that exaggerates that should perhaps just tell us that the batting quality of Shield batsmen who aren't North is quite high, and that one of the handful of batsmen consistently better than Paine should be picked.

I think the selectors' persistence with North is as much as rejection of the Sheffield Shield standard at the moment than it is stubbornness about North specifically; hopefully Paine opens their eyes a bit and they don't just assume he suddenly grew an extra three legs when he was picked for Australia. :p

I feel the bowlers have done okay here. Not excellent, not woeful like in the SL series either.
Still not at all threatening, with the noted acception of Zaheer. Harbhajan has done ok, but in all honesty its in this situations where he's supposed to shine, and when he doesn't India look rather toothless.

Ojha has bowled well, but he does not have the variations to be a wickettaker at test level not on a turner.

Needs a attacking Bowler to compliment him at the other end always.

Not sure where this anti-new ball bowler thing comes from. Whats wrong with someone who knows how to conventionally swing the ball?

Praveen Kumar should always play ahead of Sharma on current form.

I read that he was supposed to play 28-30 Sep, however that was the U23 futures league. From what I can figure, the NSW 2nd XI game starts Monday?
Oh okay cool. I'll do a search in the aus domestic thread, I'm sure brockley is all over it.

PEWS I'm not certain about haddin yet, I'm not fussed though all I want to see is north leave the team! Not since Elliott and Blewett has a top 6 bat been given so many chances averaging in the 30's.

To be fair he wasn't swinging it at all before this spell today.

North has a good domestic record doesn't he?

He's just another Sinclair.

Hahaha "Hauritz bats around 7 in FC cricket" - no way in hell
He could though, really. No need for it with the amount of allrounders New South Wales always field but his batting really improved when he moved to Sydney and had to slug it out in First Grade. Batted four Randwick and averaged high 40s I believe.

Honestly, not particularly. I mean it's not poor - he's always been a good First Class bat - but it was never really anything that screamed "Test batsman" at any point over other candidates, and he was only picked originally because Australia wanted to play four seamers in South Africa and he could act as the fifth bowler with his offies.

"Another Sinclair" would be doing Sinclair's domestic feats a great injustice.
