*Official* Australia in India 2010

This must be Australia's lowest innings RR in a long long time in Test cricket, just 2.44. Any stattos know when was the last time they batted this slowly?
Overall RPO for Australia first innings is 2.99 with it being 3.71 since 2000.....

Australia scored 294 @ 2.29 vs WI in 1991 and 342 @ 2.50 vs SL in 1999 (Colombo)

Loving Paine's method here. Very patient and technically really good but he's not letting Harbhajan bog him down.

Since his very first dig I've been very impressed with Paine. Hasn't scored heavily but he's looked good scoring them and they've been fairly useful runs in not the easiest of scenarios.

Sums up his domestic career as well unfortunately; he's always looked top notch but he just can't push on.

Decent enough session. I can live with only losing one wicket.

@PEWS: That's unfortunate. Have high hopes though.

EDIT: Hmm, yeah, 14 FC 50's but only one ton.

Yeh, similar to Bailey. Wonder what it is with Tasmanians?

That said, he looks pretty solid, really didn't look in trouble against Harbhajan at all. Reckon India's best chance of getting him is to get Zaheer on with the new ball.

Actually, now I think about it, a bit of a dilemma for India. Do they persevere with spinners, get the tail out and risk Paine going on or do they take the new ball and hope an under-done Zaheer wraps things up?

Wonder if this could be Johnson's day. A belligerent 70 or 80 could really, really hurt. Especially with Hauritz and Hilfenhaus capable of adding another 50 odd afterwards.

Teja.

Yeah, would have Sehwag and Zaheer on with the new ball after lunch and tell them to be aggressive, If I was Dhoni.

What sort of injury did Sharma get? I've been missing a bunch of sessions of this test so I can go make cheddar.

Really hope India take the new ball with Sharma and Zaheer bowling. Think Paine and Johnson will really like the ball coming onto the bat.

Yeah, I don't even think Tasmania really ever saw him as their future keeper early in his career even though he was a keeper all through the junior ranks. They seemed intent on having him develop as a pure batsman because he was a special talent with the bat, and working on Dawson as a keeper. Dawson regressed though and Paine's batting was extremely frustrating so things ended up how they did. It hasn't made his batting any less frustrating, merely more acceptable given his role in the team, but I will say he does have a game that will translate to international cricket and pressure situations pretty well - I don't expect there to be a big difference between his international and domestic performances.

I've always been a really big fan of the guy but he's always flattered to deceive a bit. I'm just saying I wouldn't necessarily expect him to build and push on from what he's shown so far because he does the exact same thing in domestic cricket. Technically excellent, patient, good under pressure, pretty good range of shots.. but just finds a way to get out when set all the time. You'd be tempted to say it was a concentration problem but then he plays innings like this one.

Even some loose balls were left alone....Shhh.... Hopefully Sharma bowls some overs and can see some fireworks from Tail.... A score of 400 ~ 450 looks good on this wicket with the type of purchase Bhajji and Ojha getting here....
