Correct.Don't think it's directly to do with them, more to do with the "Post-McWarne" era in general.
Others are not crap,Ishant was injured today otherwise when the ball reversed he would have been a handful for righthanders ,sreesanth reverses the ball better than zaheer at 140km/h and both ways,so picking 3 spinners is crap idea and dhoni knows it ,so you can only expect it in dreams.Sehwag effectiveness comes from the fact that he isn't bowled alot - a good partnership breaker. If he has to perform the role of front-line spinner, he wont be as effective.
Picking a third spinner (Ashwin or Mishra) on true dustbowl like India did vs AUS @ Mumbai 04, ENG @ Mohai 06, SA @ Kanpur 04, Chennai 01 (which they try to prepare @ Bangalore). Would make India bowling attack even more dangerous & would be utilizing their home advantage to the full extent. Its useless picking another quick other than Zaheer ATM - since the others a crap.
Personally though I would say that whilst the "great era" ended at Sydney it wasn't at that particular test.Correct.
He seems to have been blunted on a flat pitch against Sri Lanka in 2009, and has been a tad patchy in the few spaced-out Tests he's got since. To relegate him to third-choice or further back in pecking order, I do feel, was inappropriate, as the so-called second-best spinner in India hasn't played half as many games as Mishra, and is a lot less accomplished. There are a few who think Ojha, three seasons old, was picked virtually automatically due to the 'lack of quality spin options', but that's an insult to the likes of Mishra, Powar, Kartik and Chawla, who've been around a lot longer. It's not like Ojha's far better anyway- he's been levelled in Sri Lanka. What has Mishra done wrong? Thought he was mighty impressive in 08, I guess he'd not done so well since?
A little too late now. This was one trick missed way back in 2001, as he could have been a full-fledged stock bowler for the team. Then he established himself as a star batsman, and bowling him so much now will take off a lot of runs when he bats. Alternatively, Raina can play as a full off-spinner for now.aussie said:Sehwag effectiveness comes from the fact that he isn't bowled alot - a good partnership breaker. The current crop of seamers who've made their debut for India post June 2009 have been utter rubbish. There's no way you can consider Sudeep Tyagi, Ashok Dinda, Umesh Yadav, Mithun or Jaidev Unadkat as international standard, or even good enough to replace an out-of-form Ishant. Sreesanth now bowls in the 120's and low-130's, and is now easy picking, with his lack of power and control. Besides, those seamers who did well for India then are not as good now- there's no way any of Sreesanth, RPS or Munaf can replicate what they did initially.Others are not crap,Ishant was injured today otherwise when the ball reversed he would have been a handful for righthanders ,sreesanth reverses the ball better than zaheer at 140km/h and both ways,so picking 3 spinners is crap idea and dhoni knows it ,so you can only expect it in dreams.
We played 2 spinners on dustbowl in kanpur versus sa and important wickets were taken by sree and ishant.Every test victory india has had in recent times have been due to pacers than spinners.
I wouldn't argue with you again about Sharma, is obvious your a massive of fanboy of his. So facts about his obvious decline wouldn't mean much too you.Others are not crap,Ishant was injured today otherwise when the ball reversed he would have been a handful for righthanders ,sreesanth reverses the ball better than zaheer at 140km/h and both ways,so picking 3 spinners is crap idea and dhoni knows it ,so you can only expect it in dreams.

Indeed. The smart Indian has arrived. The current crop of seamers who've made their debut for India post June 2009 have been utter rubbish. You lost me at this ending part my friend, come again please, thanks...Personally though I would say that whilst the "great era" ended at Sydney it wasn't at that particular test.
Sydney 08.You lost me at this ending part my friend, come again please, thanks...
Oh. Well the first batting collapse caused by AUS batsmen brain failure (instead of the opposition owning them out with quality bowling) i remember in this post McWarne era (after SCG 06) started @ Kingston 08 & it has repeated itself over & over since.Sydney 08.
Can't argue with that. Coincided rather alarmingly with Hussey's decline in form and the failure to find a test-standard #6.Oh. Brainlessness from Ponting and Clarke, then Watson and Hussey decided that it would be appropriate to impersonate a glacier (take away nothing from Watto though, a fantastic innings) so when Hussey did fall quite a while later hardly any more runs had been scored. Oh, and that was part of a burst of superb reverse swing bowling from Zaheer which was far, far, far too good for North. Should've had Paine as well but Dhoni was having a Kamran of a day.Holy 224/5.. wow I thought Aus would be 300+ comfortably the way Ponting was hitting Bhajji (went to sleep right after that over). Was the collapse due to the pitch or just good bowling + crap batting?
Wasn't a collapse tbh. Just some good reverse from Zaheer and Watson doing his best Ravi Shastri impersonation.Holy 224/5.. wow I thought Aus would be 300+ comfortably the way Ponting was hitting Bhajji (went to sleep right after that over). Was the collapse due to the pitch or just good bowling + crap batting?
Frankly I don't agree at all. The only serious argument for Sehwag not bowling more than he does is that it'd drain him too much and weaken his batting.Sehwag effectiveness comes from the fact that he isn't bowled alot - a good partnership breaker. If he has to perform the role of front-line spinner, he wont be as effective.
Most under-rated bowler in world cricket IMO. Even ignoring the fact that replacing a fast bowler with a spinner in a team that already has three spinners among its best five bowlers would be pretty crazy in terms of team balance, I think Sree's a better bowler than Mishra these days anyway.I'd certainly play Sree in the next test.
