Anyone care to shed any light on why Nasri isn't starting tonight? Would have thought him scoring two goals the other day would have been enough to keep him in the side. Assume that Clichy and Koscielny have just been dropped.

Reckon Koscielny and Nasri are being rested. Clichy/Gibbs is a combination IMO, Clichy has been underperforming and Gibbs has been good so far this season, so this gives Gibbs a chance to stake a claim for the left back spot fulltime.

FFS Denilson.

Fabianski looking a bit hairy here so far, unsurprisingly perhaps.

Arsenal clearly a better team here facing a case of playing against the atmosphere and the crowd as much as the other team. Really ought to win this. Partizan have looked very mediocre.

2025: Here's more from Infostrada Sports, merchants of doom: "Arsenal have failed to win three of their last four Champions League away matches in which they opened the scoring. Also, Arsenal have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 Champions League away matches - the most ever by an English club."

heh.

It's a fairly pointless statistic though.. it's been proven again and again that you don't really have to win away to go far in the CL. Just score away from home.

Haha, Fabianski's reaction to saving the penalty, WAG

Though he hasn't had a lot to do in this match, he's been relatively tidy when called upon, despite a few jittery moments earlier on, and I think he should keep his place for the weekend. Bringing Almunia back in now would be a bit of a kick in the teeth as tbf to Fabianski he's done all that has been asked of him tonight, and his confidence is probably going to be at the highest it's been for a while. Another spell on the bench until Almunia makes another balls up/gets injured again won't do him any good. Arguably the pressure of him actually being told "you're our legit first choice for this match" would do him a world of good as well, rather than be the perpetual fill in for Almunia whilst he's out injured. Just a shame that it's Chelsea this weekend and not a week later. Time to step up to the plate really.

Bit worried that Drogba might give Koscielny and Squillaci a massively hard time as well, but that's another matter entirely.

There are shades of David Bentley in Jack Wilshere. Wilshere wonderfully has no pace and talks like a div.

Jack is so much better than Bentley it isn't funny. If Ramsey can come back fully recovered after his injury then things start to get really interesting. They're both excellent players already.

edti: Need to give Fabianski some props too. Hopefully he has got his confidence back now.

Red Clive doing little to hide his Man Utd bias this evening. Decent result though if they can hang on. Having said that, I've not really seen any of Valencia for a while now, but blimey they really are a shadow of the teams they would put out back in the early 2000s.
