So how will Australia lineup at Mohali? Anyone see the selectors deviating from the standard:

Katich
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
North
Paine
Johnson
Hauritz
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger

If Smith was any chance of playing, he would have surely been given more than 10 overs for the practice game.
Yea this was always going to be the team, even though many may have wanted Hughes in for North.

But those selectors love that Marcus. Lets see if he can finally bring some consistently to his batting in tests.

Yeah, it's strange how much the selectors love North. Been calling for his head for a while now. Will let it slide if he scores some runs here though.

I do consider Rahane good enough at least as a regular for his IPL team. He's repeatedly dominated Ranji and Duleep games, and done reasonably well for India A in the last tour, though two more tours should help. I'd prefer each prospect tour (or face players from) every other country before getting the first India cap. Badrinath should have had more caps, while Pujara is worth his, though Rahane could do with ten more FC games. The IPL will pit him against international bowlers regularly, so it can help him sharpen his batting- let's not forget, most dominators of domestic cricket struggled in the IPL.
To be fair to Pujara,Mukund and Badri ,they struggled in the IPL for a similar reason to Dravid,Laxman .
I.e they are not out and out aggresive batsmen.Badri though still put up some decent performances.

Btw,why was this game not telecasted anywhere?

I thought Neo had signed a contract to broadcast all tour games with the BCCI.

Got some FC hundreds to his name. Could be India's long term spin bowling all rounder in all formats imo. Would be the first bowling all rounder who bowls spin after a long time for India.
Chawla and Sehwag say hi!

Surely Ryan Harris is a better asset than Doug Bollinger?
No he's not. Harris also injured. Would say the pecking order these days would be:
Johnson
Bollinger
A fit Hilfenhaus
Harris/Siddle

Would personally have Doug above Mitch, but the selectors probably don't agree.

Be interesting to see how Paine goes keeping a lot up to the stumps on low, spinning wickets.

I'm pretty sure he might explain it at some point himself to you, but he's an Englishman who barracks for Australia, and treats England as his second favourite team, so has a strong interest in them as well.
You what, a Englishman who has the Aussies has his favorite team and the English as his 2nd favorite team, tell me another one.

****, Doug is just loved around here, isn't he!

I've come to concede that he should be picked for the 1st Test, however I still have him on probation.

Should be a ripping Test - am just excited to watch the Aussies playing Test cricket, and against a decent team too.

Bring it.

Can't wait, tbh. Actually quite excited for this series in its own right.

Perfect scenario for me would be to see a gargantuan Ricky/Clarke partnership, beating their last one, and a MJ bone-breaking spell. In the same test.

Well hope Sehwag will be fit for 1st test and moreover Raina to pile up some runs...........I have never been so enthusiast to watch a batsman play well shud cope with some short balls........He did fairly Against Srilankan Bowlers.............And i afraid Australian spinners may get buried except for north :|
