Song definitely has improved massively and you are right that he is an integral part of the team, but his improvement hasn't really been substantiated by any tangible success, and I don't think his fortunes can be considered a drastic turnaround until it has. Great lad though, such a gun.
Not his fault Wenger won't sign a keeper

Sky Sports News is reporting that Almunia hasn't actually been dropped, but is in fact injured...a likely story.

Song's having a terrible season this year though.. not sure if it is due to the way Wenger is asking him to play or just poor form. He looked decent as a DM last year but leaves too much space behind nowadays as he goes forward.

Thought that was the story lol? He got injured in the first half at West Brom or something?
Oops, my bad. Was under the impression that he had been dropped. Not sure what I want to happen here, it's actually got to the stage where I almost want Fabianski to fail, because it feels like him putting in a good performance is only delaying his inevitable return to direness. Last thing we need is him playing a blinder and then going back to being an absolute dog against Chelsea at the weekend. Though the cynic in me says that game is toast anyway, particularly if Cesc doesn't recover in time.

Thought he'd done alright so far myself. You're right in that he is getting forward a hell of a lot more though, which I'm not sure is really neccessary given he's not the best going forward and it's not like the rest of the team is lacking in players who like to go up the pitch and score goals.

In fairness to Wenger, getting a keeper right isn't easy, it has to be someone who he can trust to manage and organize those in front, give confidence to the defence and be bloody good when he is called upon. Schwartzer would be a stop gap, and one who has his own testicle dropping moments from time to time, either way within 18 months max you'd be back to square one, as he's no spring chicken (unless he's been sharing Van Der Saar and Friedels bottle of elixir)

Look at Fergies keeping strike rate over the years. Pulled out Schmeichel and rather belatedly Van Der Saar (who i think is actually a FM style regen, as he was shot 2 years ago). Amongst other names we've seen are Leighton, Sealey (fair play, wasn't that bad), Taibi, Worlds best keeper (tm) Barthez, Premierships best keeper Bosnich, Carroll, Foster......

It'd be criminal if he doesnt even try to tempt Given south though.

Edit: Andy ****ing Goram.....

Haha, loved the old chant 'Theres only two Andy Goram's'

Believe one had retired by the time he joined us though.

It's hard to get the perfect keeper but it's pretty ****ing easy to get better than Almunianski.

Nah, It's just that Le Tiss was so skillful he could score unstoppable goals that deliberately made the keeper look a fool

Either that or his excuse was 'I was playing behind Silvestre'

In all fairness to Barthez you got a good season and a half out of him before the wobbles set in. Best keeper between the Schmeichel - VDS interregnum by miles, anyway.

Loved his touching insistence he was 6' too. If he's 6' I'm 7', tbh.

Will always remember him fondly for that time when he kicked the ball to Henry and then later in the game dropped the ball at Henry's feet, both resulting in Arsenal goals. WAG. Certainly one of the more (in fact maybe only) likeable Man Utd player of that era.

Edit: Tbf Laurent Blanc was a good lad as well.
