Very interesting that Contra and I have been the only ones so far to include Prabhakar for India. Can't see how you could leave him out (other than on grounds of match-fixing allegations/ being a dick towards Kapil). Bowling av of 28 and batting av of 24 are quite impressive.

EDIT: Ok. I see Irfan Pathan.

Question - If Raina develops into a solid and fast scoring 38-42ish ave batsman like I see him becoming over the next 5 years, would he make the India all time side, and if so, whom does he replace?

Wasn't Haynes considered a better ODI batsman than Greenidge. IMO its always been Greenidge>Haynes in Tests and Haynes>Greenidge in ODIs.

Rahul Dravid or Yuvraj Singh...

1. Jack Hobbs
2. Frank Woolley
3. KS Ranjitsinhji
4. Denis Compton
5. Wally Hammond (c)
6. Gilbert Jessop
7. Les Ames (w)
8. Maurice Tate
9. Jim Laker
10. Fred Trueman
11. Brian Statham

12. Wilfred Rhodes

A brutal and innovative batting line-up
4 front-line fast bowlers (Fred, Statham, Tate, Jessop)
2 quality spinners (Trueman, Woolley)
2 very competent back-up bowlers (Hammond, Compton)
And above all it's a team you'd pay a lot of good money to watch

1 Mark WAUGH
2 Adam GILCHRIST+
3 Ricky PONTING
4 Dean JONES
5 Michael HUSSEY
6 Andrew SYMONDS
7 Simon O'DONNELL
8 Brett LEE
9 Shane WARNE
10 Dennis LILLEE
11 Glenn MCGRATH

12 Allan BORDER - for the direct hits and astute captaincy.

- Mark Waugh as my favourite player gets selected - People will pick Haydos because of his awesome World Cup in the Windies, but Waugh was also fantastic in the World Cups and big matches.

- 4 of the best bowlers and with SOD and Symonds bowling the remaining 10 overs bowling will not be a problem at all.

- Jones, Ponting, Symonds, MWaugh inside the ring will be awesome to watch plus Border as the 12th man.

- No room for Bevan as I think Hussey has overtaken him.

Yeah I was actually going to include Raina down at either 6 or 7 but I felt he needs to do what he's been doing for another 5-6 years at least. Same with Irfan pathan.. if he can find his A game back then I would happily replace him with Prabakar. I guess it all depends on if you want ultra heave batting or to go in with 5 main bowlers. Since with Kapil Dev in there the all rounder slot is pretty much filled.

Chatfield

Unashamedly went for the aggressive bowlers (bar Vettori) there. Harsh on Harris, Larsen and Chatfield, but Vettori is one of the best ODI stranglers of all time and Hadlee isn't far off him. Bond and Mills take the new ball, with Mills bowling ten straight.

Was tempted to put Crowe deeper in the middle order to take on the reverse swing, but he's the best suited to number three, and Twose is the perfect ODI number five (Styris unluckly to miss out though). Fleming bats at four to take on the spinners whilst being protected from any early ball movement. Astle up top to blast it and Turner to play conventionally. Cairns nuff said, with McCullum being our clear cut best in this format as well. Hadlee provides some slogging firepower at number eight with Vettori and Mills rounding out a long batting line up.

All right first team but really, really disagree with the batting order. John Wright is not one of our best ODI batsmen for a start. Likewise Lou Vincent. Even Jamie How has arguably done better.

Taking my firsts into account:

Jesse Ryder
Mark Greatbatch
Andrew Jones
Scott Styris
Ross Taylor
Jacob Oram
Chris Harris
Ian Smith
Geoff Allot
Danny Morrison
Ewen Chatfield

Again, Larsen unlucky, but Chatfield can strangle and take wickets and Harris adds some lower order batting along with electric fielding.

Wright was a gun. And na my batting order > yours. At least they batted where I put them. :p

Parore > Ian Smith in limited overs stuff. Smith was dangerous but scored SFA, Parore was a great number 3 for a while.

Wright averaged 26 with a strike rate of 57.

Greatbatch>Wright as an ODI batsman. So is Ryder.

Greatbatch opened
Ryder opens
Jones has batted at 3
Styris has batted at 4
Taylor has batted at 5
Oram has batted at 6

Don't see what you're getting at tbh.

Fair call on Parore, though there is no way he should bat at number three.

Watto an interesting call there.

And your team shows why they've been so damn dominant in ODIs for a long time now. It's basically the late 90s to 2007 side.
