*Official* Australia in India 2010

Clear problem with Johnson is that you just don't know which one will turn up so he needs to be potentially 'protected' by the other bowlers in the team. Way too unreliable to be considered a good test bowler.
Think it's ridiculous to not refer to Johnson as a "good" Test bowler; anyone who averages less than 30 bowling in the era he has deserves that accolade.

Ahh, let me rephrase that. He is way too unreliable to be our leading strike bowler or to be considered one of the best bowlers

Backing a bore draw or an Aussie "upset". Don't think the Indians attack is all there, especially at home and with the likes of Zaheer Khan still feeling their way back from injury.

Too bad the ICC doesn't recognize the "aussie ranking system" which arbitrarily decides which series should "count" or "not count". :(

They all count, build a bridge and get over it. India beat an all-time great Australia team in 2001 without Kumble. If you're good enough, you'll find a way. Sadly England weren't against India. Deal with it.
If you actually read his post he was addressing the many flaws in the system, not just the one that influences Australia's position and was advocating that Australia shouldn't have remained #1 after 07/08. The chip on the shoulder some guys have on here against Australia is ridiculous

With the exception of Dougeh, this looks like a pretty poor Australian bowling attack for the conditions. Why isnt Siddle part of this squad? I would be very surprised if Hauritz and Johnson arent pasted and Im not sure if Hilfenhaus will prosper in traditional Indian bowling conditions.

Edit: and the backup pace bowler for this bunch is Peter George? Nielsen clearly has no idea what hes talking about.
What would you know about George? Quality backup as far as I'm concerned.

What would you know about George? He is pretty good backup.
Nothing. That was more a dig at Nielsen claiming that Australia's inexperience wasnt a factor for the series. When your first back up pace bowler is a debutant with 18 FC games under his belt and is playing in one of the toughest places in the world to ply his trade, that my friend is a factor.

Read my post, I have nothing against Australia. I have an issue with people picking and choosing certain series to say "they don't count" when it doesn't suit their agenda, however.

Ajinkya Rahane's first class average is insane. Though so is Saha's given how useless he is with the bat.

Aus should probably bat for 3 days if the wicket is a pancake. Don't give Gambhir or Pujara a hit and grind Sree and the spinners into the dust.

Sorry, I actually got confused with aussie the poster and aussie the people

Whatever it takes!!!
Shouldn't the thread on what Johnson said abt Sehwag be merged with this?

Don't see anything wrong or even newsworthy that Johnson said tbh... He just said how he plans to attack the batsmen.. Don't see anything wrong at all with what he said.

It is rare that you see a quick bowler in Ranji Trophy who bowls with an average speed of over 125kph. The pitches are also mainly flat too. There has also been a lack in quality spinners in Indian domestic cricket, recently, too. All this adds up to prolific batsmen who aren't necessarily that good. I did watch Rahane score some runs in the one Indian domestic match that has been televised in the UK, a few years back and he certainly is good to watch.

Right Time for dravid to retire if he doesnt score in Mohali.....

The aussies are back again and this time for the 2 test series starting on Oct 1 In mohali follwoed by a test at Banglore ..

Australian sqaud is mixture of youth and experince , Punter and his boys have already started the worbal games by aiming no. 1 spot which they will get if they beat india 2-0 .

It looks very tough as history says no Aussie team has achived this in the past even the sides which had the likes of Haydon ,Warne Mcgrath and Lee..
,
This australian side don't have the very good bowling attack barring mitchel Johnson and I dont think Nathan Hauritz can trouble the indians on home soil.

But to win for india is equally difficult as the old saying goes you cant win test matches if you cant take 20 wickets after all Test macthes are bowlers game .

Australian Batting with Ponting clarke , katich , North and watson can handle indian spiners unless harbhajan comes up with some brialliant bowling.

With Yuvraj dropped and Pujara (The saurashtra run machine) making his way in side purely on the weightage of performance , One man who will also be under scrutiny is the great indian wall Dravid . from last 4-5 Test matches he doesnt seems to be at his best ..He is neither edging the ball moving away from him nor struuggling with his footwork.. But he is getting out in his twenties there is some thing wrong with his concentration and if he doesnt overcome it in mohali he will have to quicky decide his fate.

Banglore will present him the great oppertunity to say farewell to the game in front of his home crowd ..

Though its going to be a great contest and i hope that drawid slams a ton at mohali to prove me wrong but if he continue to struggle may be its time for him to make way for the younger lot

This thread has been pretty good apart from the minor diversion by aussie.

Neither set of fans is overly confident and two match series kind of suck, no time to come back if you start poorly.
