Just 'lay' (i.e. bet not to happen) India winning on Betfair. That's the best value if you think India won't win the series.

They shouldn't play Sharma just because he has bowled well previously against the Aussies. Has been pathetic since god-knows-when.

You look at stats and use your judgement. I mean, Bollinger's stats are against club standard lineups mate.
Still incorrectly refering the good/respectable WI & NZ batting performances that Bollinger had to negotiate as club standard i see.

Don't think one Indian batsman is the key - even when we got Sehwag out early in the last series you'd have a Vijay or Gambhir or VVS standing up.
M Morkel earlier this year troubled Gambhir by coming around the wicket & tucking him up outside off-stump. Such line of attack Bollinger can replicate very well.

We should have gone at least a week earlier and had some more practice matches. Not that optimistic coming in cold to such a big series.

Then again, India have had a recent habit of starting series slowly too.

Still think they'll win though. It will be interesting to see if see if our older batsmen play better having freshened up. Will it help the likes of Ponting, Hussey, Katich etc or arethey better served having been playing consistently?

I know that contradicts to an extent what I just said, but the latter point more an individual thing. From a team POV would like to have seen a better build up.

Wouldn't mind it if we caught the Aussies cold in the first Test and then prepared a flattie for the second with absolutely no chance of getting a result.

Yeah, India definitely have the bowlers with the miles in the legs to force a 2-0 result.

So the only practice match starts tomorrow and Hussey, Bollinger and George are still at the Champions League???

I guess that means only 13 players to chose from with likely...

Katich
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hughes
North
Smith
Pain
Hauritz
Johnson
Hilfenhaus

Can't see them playing Starc or Pattinson...

Let's be careful not to talk in extremes. I am certainly not saying that he is absolutely useless and am in fact advocating/conceding that he comes back into the team for the Ashes. My argument RE his ommission, is unique to these two Tests, and just that I feel that Johnson, Hilfenhorse, Watson, Smith and Hauritz are a better collective package.

And Watson is not some 89 year old Grandad. He's a 20-something Hulk who I am sure can get through two Tests bowling 15 overs per day.

With the exception of Dougeh, this looks like a pretty poor Australian bowling attack for the conditions. Why isnt Siddle part of this squad? I would be very surprised if Hauritz and Johnson arent pasted and Im not sure if Hilfenhaus will prosper in traditional Indian bowling conditions.

Edit: and the backup pace bowler for this bunch is Peter George? Nielsen clearly has no idea what hes talking about.
