When Hazlewood was originally selected I wondered why they didn't go with Starc, He should be able to learn quite a bit from the two left handers - Johnson and Bollinger.

It's a strange situation at the moment with the likes of Hazlewood, George, Pattinson, Starc getting recognised, I don't believe the selectors are actually picking the best available players at the moment, which is always a dangerous thing to do.

Excellent early season form from Siddle, Harris, Cutting, Geeves, Hastings, ****ley, Copeland, Magoffin (yep I've pretty much named everyone) could see them come into the frame.

Yes. Very highly rated by both the Victorian and Australian hierarchy. He was given more chances to play in the 09/10 Australian domestic season and bowled very well. Not many 20 year olds in Australia are taking 6/48 in the One Day comp.
Wow, didn't know that before... In fact when I saw cricinfo title, I thought abt Darren and was wondering how the English test discard (I know he is an Australian) suddenly has captured Aussie selectors' imagination... didn't bother to follow up... thankws..

The Starc reality is that the NSW mafia is back ruling Australian cricket!

If Starc gets injured on the plane, expect a NSW grade player to leap frog into the squad.

I am disappointed to see no shock selections in terms of pace bowlers. Pujara has earned his spot in the squad though and I hope he performs well. I believe that in the past few decades of Indian cricket, no one has been as prolific in his early career as Pujara - he simply had to be given a shot.

Hmmm, strong bowling attack that one. For the the Aussies to even be competitive, they'll have to find a way past the conventional swing they'll get. Reckon Harbhajan has been building to this series too, will be tough to face.

Mind you, I don't think this Indian bowling attack would like to be bowling to small totals. If the Aussie bowlers can get on top of the batters, could be a very close series. If Sehwag's form holds up, though....

Finally Pujara gets into the squad.

About time .Hopefully he gets a chance in the team too, though Raina deserves his place at the moment.

Would definitely be taking James Pattinson over Starc.
Wish i could make a informed comment about young quikcs like Starc & George especially - but i have yet to see them bowl. But seeing Pattinson today, he looks to be the type of bowler who would be suited to bowling in India.

Probably would have been tempted to rush Sidvicious back. But obviously they wouldn't.

But damn the fast-bowling stocks look good.

think our top 4 batsmen will decide the out come of the series
hopefully sehwag and tendulkar will continue their form and dravid and gambhir can get it back

Well except for Johnson. Bollinger, Hilfy & Watson have proven they can reverse swing the ball since that will be the REAL key in whether AUS will win this series or not. Since i can certainly see the IND batsmen hitting Hauritz out of the attack.
