***Official*** Spot-Fixing Scandal

On some level, I like the reaction in Pakistan. I want the players to be scared that should they ever do something like this, this is what they'll have to deal with. It's no walk in the park and the risks will be huge.
but now it is getting to dangerous levels Butt's car was vandalized knowing how things work in Pakistan would not be surprised if somebody gets seriously hurt.

The article does say they only had two weeks (ending tomorrow) to respond to the charges, I think this is more a case of them having to reply timeously & not wanting to queer any potential leverage they may get from gulity or partially guilty pleas, rather than actual protestations of innocence.

If any of them were to admit guilt up front I imagine their bargaining position would be weakened.
Classic prisoners dilemma!

Sky are reporting that there are allegations over yesterdays game with investigations into 'scoring patterns'.

http://ww.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12173_6384050,00.html

ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat stated: "A source informed The Sun newspaper that a certain scoring pattern would emerge during certain stages of the match and, broadly speaking, that information appeared to be correct."

You do wonder how long Pakistan can continue to play international cricket as it seems from the outside that the corruption is so endemic that now you can't watch a game involving them without having suspicions of match/spot fixing in almoast every situation from dot balls, wickets, dropped catches and no balls.

For me as a fan it has completely ruined this summers cricket. From someone who really enjoyed the Pakistan Australia series and was hoping they would have more 'neuteral tests' in England I now have no interest in watching or reading about anything they do on the cricket field. All very sad really.

Hence why the poster who linked the article said "if true", if these new allegations come out as solid i fail to see how any game involving pakistan can be taken sersiouly as it shows it isn't a best case where only the previously named players were involved.

I wonder what the source of these allegations are - unlike the NOTW tape it must be very easy to rig evidence showing unusual betting patterns - and there must a fair people with very large axes to grind

Saw this reported on SSN this morning. Gone way beyond a joke now. I really struggle to believe anyone would be so ****witted to attempt to fix a game just after three teammates had been suspended, but when the ICC Chief Exec is saying the information received before the game about the scoring patterns was "Broadly correct" one must assume substance of some level.

There seems to be a cancer in Pakistan cricket and radical surgery is needed for the good of the sport now.

They haven't released sources but apparntly they were informed of how pakistan would be scoring in certain points and then those things happened....

Pakistan match-fixing claims: Oval clash under microscope over spot-fixing allegations - Telegraph

If this is true, then the guilty parties should definitely be banned for life as they will not be able to say that they hadnt been warned
If this proves to be correct then - there must be at least 7 or 8 players in involved. This is starting to get to the point where the whole pakistan team needs to be suspended. The previous argument seemed to be that it was just 4 individuals so why suspend the whole team. Now it seems like much more than that are involved (if this report is true).

Also how brazen are the match fixers they know they are being watched but they proceed with their plans anyway. Nothing scares the players involved away from participating in these shananigans. I am surprised by this recent development.

Yeah this news was posted in the Aamer thread as well.
With apologies to the Pakistan fans on this forum - but it if this report is true Pakistan need a short time out from international cricket for a full ICC lead inquiry into their players personnel and systems.
